So Coco is litter trained and her main litter box is located in the cage which is in my room. Since it is so hot out I bring her down to our finished basement so she can play most of the night… i wouldnt mind leaving her down there if she would go in a litter box… i have a second cage i could set up for her mobile home just so she can jump in and go poop and eat…

Would this second home confuse her? She is very well litter trained so i just dont wanna mess that up.

        Thoughts?

I used to have just one litter box in my apartment, but I added one in my bedroom and Chacha does well with both. I would watch where she does her business in the basement. Otherwise, I don’t see an issue with another box in the basement if she will be down there.

okay you should put a litter box in the basement and by the next day if she has a spot/place she likes to pee and poop in then move the litter box to that place oh and a tip introducing new litter boxs you should put some poo in the new litter box so she understands she has to go to the toilet in the box/litter box

Hmm, I’m not sure how well your bunny will do but every time we’ve moved them into a new cage or area they ALWAYS lose their litter box habits for a few days to a week. Every time. I’m not sure if it has to do with them being really young (5 months) and because they were just neutered/spayed. If she’s older and has been spayed for awhile she may be different.

Bumbelbunny has had two litterboxes since we found him. One is inside his home and the other outside. When he is out playing, he seems to always run to the one we keep outside. He has never lost his habit. We used to take her out to our patio where there was a third litterbox and there was no problem there either. I imagine it depends on the bunny and might take longer for some to get used to the other boxes

My rabbits go with me to visit my family every weekend and they have a temporary cage there with another litterbox. They always poop outside of the box the first evening they’re in their temp cage, but once they’ve marked it enough with their scent to feel comfortable it goes away so I just leave it for a bit. When they get back to their main cage however, they don’t feel like they need to mark it again and go right in the box.
