I was just wondering what this was about…

So earlier today my bunny was laying on the floor spread out. I decided to go over and take advantage- I started petting him on his head. He was laying there for me to adore and I was thinking he was falling asleep because his eye was closed on my side. Little did I know, he had the other wide open on the other side (the side that wasn’t facing me).

I thought he looked hilarious, like a pirate- ARRR LoL! I was wondering what this is about? Tried to do a quick search for it but couldn’t find what it exactly is. Picture below:

(Perhaps not the best picture to show what I’m talking about, sorry I couldn’t get a better angle). Either way, it was just something I was curious about. Any ideas?

That picture is so cute! I’ve never seen my bunnies do that but he probably wasn’t sleeping, just resting. As prey animals, bunnies are always vigilant, even when they look sleeping or relaxed.

My bun does the same thing! xD I’ve always wondered about that too. I just figured it was something normal that they all did. =p I’m really curious to see what sort of answers you get. =]

My Chacha bun does that at times. It is quite hilarious if you ask me!

Bunjamin loves to trick me by doing this but if I pet both sides of his head at the same time he’ll close both. I’ve never found him sleeping like this or anything. Just when he’s getting pets. What a cute baby you got there!

@littlepuffytail: That makes sense, since he’s pray it would make sense for him to “sleep with one eye open” lol- he takes it quite literally!

@Skipper’s Mama: It seems like a few buns do this hugh? I think littlepuffytail’s prey thing makes sense :]

@LoveChaCha: It is isn’t it?! I was seriously laughing like a crazy person when I first saw him do this XD

@FrankieFlash: Thanks, its hard not to squish him he’s so cute lol! But I have noticed he tends to only do it when he’s getting petted too.
