Do some rabbit breeds shed more than others? I have to rabbits one is an american sable and one is a dutch mix. My dutch mix hardly ever sheds. Now my american sable sheds all the time I get 4-5 clumps of hair a day when I brush her. Is this common for this breed?

I’m not sure about that particular breed but I have 3 very different bunnies and the amount and type of shedding differs. My Mini-Rex who has short, plush fur sheds a little all the time. I pretty much brush him every day. Then he goes through a big shed and molts a lot several times a year. Bindi had medium long, very thick fur and he goes weeks without shedding but when he sheds he loses it in handfuls. My third has short, silky fur and she sheds the least.

I would do some research on that particular breed and see what’s normal for shedding patterns.

I’m not sure. I really think it depends on many factors. I had a Dutch who seemed to have big molts all the time and one that hardly ever did.
