Should rabbits get a mineral block and if so is there an age where they are too young for it?  I bought my bun a mineral block and when she first got home she chewed away at it for ages and then I thought – maybe she shouldn’t get it while she is little – so I took it away and have since forgotten about it but I was just wondering what your thoughts are on mineral blocks?

Mineral blocks aren’t necessary – they get all the vitamins and minerals they need in their pellets, hay and veggies.

However if she likes it, it is perfectly fine for her to have one I think.

They don’t need one at all. Like salt blocks, they like the taste, but it is not necessary to their health. (I think there may be a question about whether it’s not good for them, like yogurt drops in treats from pet stores are bad for them, yet are still sold.) I’d say toss it and forget about it. He’ll love other treats that are good for him just as much.

Okay Yeah I’ve been really wary of pet shop treats because I can’t imagine them actually being okay for rabbits – I mean, when is a wild rabbit ever going to have yogurt?! haha! I just use some of her pellets as treats while she’s still young and while I look for good treats
