Hi everyone! I have been lurking on this site since before I got my bun Comiskey. I wanted to be prepared and I have loved coming on here for advice and to be able to see other buns. Comiskey is 3 months old and I have had him since he was weaned from his mom. At that time he was with a very loving family who held him and took great care of him. He is a hilarious and funny little guy and of course being a new bun mom, the tiniest things worry me! I took him to the vet at 2 months for a check up and to make sure I found a vet that was rabbit savvy and was great with him. I found one and she said he looked fantastic and he did great. I still check him over myself and he loves having his back rubbed. I have never felt anything out of the ordinary until tonight.

This is beginning to be long so my apologizes! Anyways, I was rubbing his back and I felt something. It reminded me of when he sometimes gets sleepies in his eyes and he gets them out but then they get in his fur and i just brush them off. It was tiny and white and felt  like it was a little tangled. It is on his skin, under his fur and i feel like it looks like a small piece of dandruff. This is the only spot on him it doesn’t seem to bother him. It just seems like a little flake, not red – just the color of his skin.

Now the reason I am worrying is I am leaving tomorrow for 10 days and he will be alone with his dad. I know he will take great care of him but it worries me and we talked about it and he is going to keep a close eye on it and take him in if it changes – but i was wondering if any of you wonderful people had ever seen something like this. I googled and only found mite things and fleas – and it looks nothing like any of those. It is just the one spot – probably the size of 1/4 of a penny and its kinda just sitting there semi attached to his skin.

Sorry for the length and thank you so much for helping a new mom!

I am not sure what it is is, but sometimes a bump or irritation can arise from fleas, but normally you will see at least flea dirt — dark spots along with some dandruff (sometimes). The place to look for fleas or flea dirt is along the spine from the neck to the tail. Usually toward the rump is the most common. Other than that, it it might be just something that got in his fur. I think that as long as your other half is keeping a close eye, then it will be fine. You have a rabbit savvy vet (thanks to you!) and so even if something comes up hile you are gone, his dad will be able to get the help your bunny needs. At this point it doesn’t sound serious. Especially if you looked everywhere in his fur and found nothing else.
