        Hello again,

So I am trying to get Pikachu to be less afraid of me, any tips on how to do it? She is a wild bunny, and I want to make sure that every time I handle her she isn’t so stressed out because she is afraid of me. Her story is on another post, you can read it for the reason why I have her.

        Thanks,

The human, and all my pets, Pikachu, Nova, Godric, Fus, Ro Dah, Sushi, Jack, and Bella

          Hi LBB,
So glad you are keeping Pika….. Sounds like she is OK with being a house bunny and with injuries and a bad leg she would probably end up food for the neighbours cat in no time.
My babies were rescued from a backyard free range at about 4 weeks old so though they are domestic breeds they have their wild moments and aren’t the biggest cuddlers. They do come up to the top of their bungalow for nose rubs or sit next to me if I am in their play area but they are not fond of being over handled.
However, If I happen to get down to floor level or stretch out on the day bed they suddenly want to be a part of the action and I have bunnies sitting all over me wanting to know why I am horizontal and whether chewing my hair and licking my chin will have any effect.

Play ‘I am not paying attention to you’ by laying on the floor and looking distracted by reading a book, or on a laptop, etc. Rabbits, including the wild ones are prey animals and do not like being approached. It can take a while for your rabbit to really trust you, and that is trust is built over time. Sometimes, some rabbits do not like to be approached at all. It really depends on the personality.

It takes awhile for them to trust people, Goblin recently started grooming me and in the last few months he is a lot more cuddly than when I got him a year ago, before he wouldn’t let me hold him but now he climbs on my chest all the time and lays his head down for pets.

Something he really liked was when I washed his face with a warm damp cloth

Also if he thinks I am ignoring him, like when I am on the computer, reading, on my phone or watching tv it really bugs him and he starts climbing all over me or stands in front of my computer or book and bumps me in the face with his nose
