Went today for the 3rd visit in 6 weeks for Lolli’s ear infections.  The good news is that they *are* doing much, much better.   But she still has a little bit of infection and they switched to Surolan.  She is definitely not having any of this messing with her ears anymore.  Last night while I was cleaning them and then applying the baytril, she kept trying to bite me.  LOL  She goes back in another 2 weeks for yet another checkup.

On a good note, she did her first bunny 500 EVER and has been binkying like crazy.  My brother came to visit for 2 weeks and he left on the 17th, so I think it’s a combination of feeling better and everything going back to normal.  LOL

Sorry to hear she is still having problems. If anyone can relate to that, its me. Some of Bindis infections tooks months to clear up. Very frustrating.

How often do you clean her ears? Did the vet say what type of bacteria?

Continued vibes for Lolli’s ears. Sometimes these things can take awhile to clear up – I’m sure it is frustrating!

Honestly, I think she’s had at least a little infection for a long time. She had the same symptoms of scratching all the time and shaking her head a lot and I took her to my old vet like 2 years ago, shortly after Eddie passed away. They said she just had a lot of wax buildup so I’m pretty sure they didn’t test anything. I finally had the money and took her for a wellness checkup and to get her nails clipped since I can’t seem to do it very well on my own. This is a new vet as I live like 45 minutes away from my old one. I like this one a lot better. The other place took her out of the room to examine her. This place doesn’t. I just didn’t think too much about it at the time with the other place.

They didn’t tell me what kind of bacteria. But she has some inflammation in one ear and he said the surolan would help with that as well.

Errrr…………I clean her ears every other night but medicate her every night. I should probably clean her ears every night but she is really starting to fight me. And there’s not much gunk in there now. I wish I lived close to another bunny slave so they could help me hold her. LOL I live with my dad and he’s afraid of hurting her.

Oh she also lost an ounce and weighs 5 lbs. Mini rexes are funny little creatures – she seriously feels heavier. LOL

I’ve used Surolan with success in the past. When Bindi started getting frequent ear infections, my vet instructed I clean them every day or every other day with a cleaner but his ear infections just seemed relentless and when we decided to stop cleaning so much, they seemed to clear up faster. Now I only clean his ears once every couple of months, if the buildup is really terrible. Keeping them dry seems to help reduce the infections.
