        Here’s the situation:

Last night Cinnabun was perfectly normal. Eating normal quantities of hay, having perfectly round bunny poos, drinking water and acting like her normal self. I went to bed around 12am and around 5am, like I normally do, I got up really quick just to check on her. She was still eating, pooing, moving her toys around, and running like normal. So I went back to bed until 7:30 (about two hour ago now). I gave her her breakfast, cilantro, red leaf lettuce and romaine (this is the first time she’s had romaine, I made sure to only give the very dark part and everything was washed before hand, like normal). She was eating that while I was at her food station, giving her new hay and new pellets. Normally, as soon as I leave her food station she comes hopping over to eat her pellets, super fast. She did that this morning and I went to get ready. When I came out, something was off. She hadn’t eaten her pellets, except maybe a small mouthful. She hadn’t returned to her veggies, which she normally does after finishing her pellets. She had gone to the potty and there about a half dozen perfectly fine bunny poos in the box. But she wasn’t eating. She was just laying there. I thought this was very odd, so I took out the raisin box and shook it. She didn’t respond in the normal way by going crazy. She did look up at me but didn’t come over. I put the raisin right up next to her face and she snubbed. She has never…NEVER..snubbed a raisin before. I took her over to the couch and felt her tummy, soft with no bulges as far as I could tell. I listened to her stomach and there were soft gurgles (which I thought were normal). She’s just sort of lethargic, and still isn’t eating, but by now she would have eaten all her pellets, all her veggies, and hay a few bites of hay.

I’m not sure what is wrong or what to do. I checked around her Xpen and there is no sign that go to the carpet and ate it. No sign that she ate anything she isn’t supposed to. Right now she’s sitting in one of her boxes, away from me. I can’t see or hear her grinding her teeth.

What should I do? It’s the weekend and my vet’s office is closed, though I think there might be someone on call if I call the office? Extra stress: my car is in the shop, I live in a very small town where the next nearest vet is going to be at least 30 mins away. All my friends have left school for the summer, so I’m basically alone in this town. My mom is 2 hours away if I get desperate enough to think I need her to come drive me around. Please help

OK, Phone consults…. Can you ring a few explain the problem… Maybe you will at least be able to get treatment advice.
How well do you know your neighbours ? If its an emergency it might be a good time to get to know them and whether or not they are animal lovers willing to drive you the 30 minutes to the vet. Better yet, ring your mechanic, explain you need to get your Pet to the vet, they may be able to arrange a short term loan vehicle or a lift.

I just called the vet. Turns out they have office hours on Saturday. We’re going in at 11:30am. This might be the longest 2 and a half hours of my life. What should I do until then? She’s still just laying down. Slightly stretched out, not in a ball. What should I ask the vet? What should the vet do? What might the vet do?
I’m really freaking out, I’m sorry. I’ve never had an emergency before.

She keeps putting up her tail, like she needs to pee. Sometimes she balls up like she can’t get comfy but always flattens herself back out. Am I seeing symptoms where there are none?

OK, Deep breaths… She needs you sane… I am not well acquainted with these conditions but I am guessing it could be stasis or UTI of some kind. If the vet is open you could always get there a little early, can’t hurt.

Going to see the vet at 11:30 is a good thing. FIrst, the car ride will be what my vet calls “car therapy.” Often motion gets their gut moving and when they get to the vet’s they poop or pee or eat or generally improve. If not, your vet will probably inject some fluids after examining her to get things moving again, unless she detects something else as the cause. (Toothache or an obstruction, etc.) So just watch her but don’t worry over the next few hours.

Or, it’s a bunny conspiracy. I mean it – Sammy had exactly the same kind of normal day yesterday, and this morning I gave her pellets (early, instead of my Dad doing it like he does lately) and she ignored them. I cleaned her litter pan (overdue) and she just sat under her basket. She snubbed a carrot I put under her nose! I worried for about an hour or more, then my mother came in at treat time and suddenly she sprang to life for it. Then used the clean litter pan. Then started eating her greens. Wait an hour, first bite of pellets. I swear, she did it to scare me. I will keep an eye on her today, but it is really similar. My vet is only there until 2 today and not again until Monday, so I thought the same thing as you.
The first time she did this a few months ago, she did have a partial blockage so it was good that I took her in. I think it’s true for you today as well. Get her set up with whatever the vet says.

Just got back from the vet. According to her, Cinnabun is fine. Her teeth are the perfect length, her skin, ears, and eyes, look good. Her temp is nice 101.5deg. Her stomach is soft and gurgling and when she palpated it, no pain or panic. She sent me home with a syringe and instructions to force feed her water and baby food if she doesn’t start eating in the next hour or so. She’s on call all weekend if I need anything. She doesn’t hear gas or think it’s stasis.

Vibes please? For both of us? I’m basically an emotional wreck right now.

*edit* I just looked over at her in her Xpen and she peed, ate a small bit of pellet, and hate a small cecal.

I think she may be getting enough from her veggies then. I wouldn’t panic and just watch her. If the vet says all is fine, then she may just be maturing and needing less pellets.

It’s been a 10 hours since the vet. She has eaten, without force. Hay, and veggies, and pellets. She pooed once, some were normal bunny poos and some were much smaller and a little misshapen. She still hasn’t had water though. There was lots of water on her veggies, but she hasn’t gone up to her bottle. I keep trying to syringe her with water, but she runs away. I think I may have gotten some in, but not enough? I’m not sure. Also, she hasn’t gone to the litter box since about 3, but she did leave a cecal laying out. She’s more active than she was this morning. I’m still worried. What should I be doing differently? Anything?

                          How is she this morning?
Sammy finally passed a few weird poos, and today she is eating like a monster and drinking normally. I hope Cinnabun might be doing the same.

Water from veggies is getting her hydrated, but if you really think you need to syringe feed her water, then drop a towel around her lightly to hold her in place, and put the syringe into the side of her mouth not the front. Just go slowly because you don’t want her to accidentally get water down a windpipe. You could put a dot on her bottle to see if she’s drunk some out of her water feeder while you weren’t looking. I bet she’s much better now.
                          Update?

She seems to be much better, yes. Late last night before bed, she started eating a lot of her hay and finally went over to her water bottle for some long drinks. This morning she had her veggies and pellets. She even flopped for a mid-morning nap. Her poos look better. Guess it was just a weird day yesterday.

I’m relieved that Cinnabun is doing better. It’s weird that the exact same thing happened with Hodari last month; I mean, what you wrote describes what happened to a T, right down the way she was trying to get comfortable and seemed to be straining to urinate. We’re lucky to live near a vet school, where they have emergency hours because we noticed Hodari’s symptoms right as we were getting ready for bed. We called the hospital, they said bring her in. Like Cinnabun, Hodari had gurgling sounds in her tummy and the exam seemed not to really reveal anything. The vet gave her fluids, though, and pain meds and fed her Critical Care. Five or six hours later Hodari started to eat on her own again, thankfully; because she did not want anymore Critical Care! Lol. Then, little by little she started pooping again; at first they were wet and misshapen, but they soon got back to normal. Now all is well. We still have no idea what happened. The vet checked her urine and there was no bacteria or anything out of the ordinary. Hopefully she and Cinnabun have no more scary, weird days!
