My name is Chrissy, and my Rabbits name is Cruz he will be a year in october and for some reason today when i came home from work about a half hour ago i noticed he didnt eat any of his food that i gave him before i left. He is drinking his water and will eat the papaya snacks that he loves but not his food. I have not changed his diet at all for him to be this way. what should i do? He has been waking up anywhere between 5-7 am and going up to his cage and shaking wires even though he gets to run around alot. I tried calling my vet since when i noticed he didnt eat his food it was midnight but he wont be back until monday. I don’t know if there is a tooth problem involved my boyfriends sister who has a rabbit does not think that is the case that if there was a tooth problem we would have known. today he woke up and did the whole rattling of the cage and in order for him to stop we had to put a blanket over the cage so he thought it was still bed time. Hes never been like that usually he wakes up the same time we do every day around 9-10ish.

Hi, I’m going to move this to the Q&A Section.

It is possible it’s dental. You don’t always know right away with teeth problems as their change in behavior could be gradual. I don’t know what the rattling of the cage would be from though…it may not be related.

Sometimes if a bunny is uncomfortable they can act out. Also, with tooth problems, a bunny may drink more to help soothe. I also ditto Sarita that it isn’t always obvious with tooth issues, especially if spurs begin to develop on the back molars. (which you can’t see without a vet scope). It’s too bad that your vet will not be back until Monday as your bunny needs to eat before then. Did the vets office have any other rabbit-savvy reference? I know this is stressful. I am so sorry.
