A few days ago, I woke up to find Milo flopped over strangely. Straight away I knew something was wrong. Milo could not walk properly without tipping over onto his side. My immediate reaction was that he had broken a leg. I called our veterinarian, and we were planning on seeing the doctor right away the next day to get him checked, and if his leg was broken, to get it set. (Both of my parents were at work, so I was alone.) The procedure was going to cost us $300+. After talking to the vet, the MCRS (MN companion rabbit society.) and searching online for temporary options, I had him resting in a small box with blankets and hay. He didn’t show pain, but he was so nervous, because he could not seem to stand up. He was very brave, and I kept him by my side at all times. Milo was very strong and held on, but he passed away after a few hours. We took Bugsy, Maybelline, and Milo’s body to a vet in north field to find out what had happened to Milo, and if Bugsy and Maybelline were going to be ok. We learned, that what had happened to Milo was, he had been having digestive problems and could not digest all of his food properly, because he had eaten more than he could handle. As the Doctor called it, a “Mechanical Error” . I am extremely heart broken that my trio of bunnies has now become a pair, but I am at ease knowing what had happened to him, instead of having to keep guessing.

Milo, you were such a sweet boy. Everybody who meet you loved you, in fact, after my english teacher got to hold you, her family is now getting a rabbit of their own this summer. You were never one to bite, between Bugsy and Maybelline’s little scuffles, you were always there to play peace keeper. You were such a happy boy, and how you are happy in bunny heaven.

Milo was certainly loved. And I’m sure he knew that. He had a wonderful home with lots of love. Treasure your memories of him and he will be with you always.

I’m so sorry to hear about your poor bunny. I lost my own Milo in January of this year…I know we will both fondly remember our Milo boys forever.
