Hi. Long time since last posting. My bun, Bean, has the run of my room and I sometimes put him in his cage at night to sleep but usually he just stays out, sleeping by my bed on a blanket. He recently stopped drinking from his water bottle in his cage and instead wants it from a bowl. Not really an issue. But it’s annoying having to fill it all the time when his water bottle would go a few days between fillings.

He’s not being bad, so I don’t see the point in neutering him. Should I though? I mean, he’s not bad, doesn’t spray, etc.

It needs to be filled and refreshed daily. It’s really not that big of a deal, much easier than a water bottle. Mine get fresh water in their bowls twice a day.

          I totally advocate neutering.

That might be why he is off the water bottle. They still like it fresh… If its been in the bottle a few days it can become stale. Mine favour the small water bottle for this very reason. It gets filled twice daily whilst the big bottle only every other day.

I like the dish because it does need to be refilled daily, and that’s important for a bunny’s health.

Neutering will be good for his health long term, will calm him and you may find he is less aggressive in his behavior which will be pleasant for both of you. If you find changing water frequently a challenge, you will find the antics of an un-neutered rabbit annoyingly creative, ie. destructive, even harder to deal with at the most inconvenient times.

Just a little tip that helped me with the water changing. I set an alarm or “reminder” on my phone to change bunjamin’s water a set time each day. My problem wasn’t finding it annoying but rather I’m forgetful. Also if he drinking so much that he needs it filled more than once a day, try a larger bowl.
