Maybelline is a dwarf hotot rabbit who is about 2 1/2 years old, and weighs about 2 pounds. I adopted her from my local house rabbit society about 4 months ago and the first thing I noticed when I came home was that when ever I approached her, or if she was upset with something, she would make little grunting noises (Similar to the whinking of a guinea pig). I assumed that it was normal because the shelter said nothing about it when I got her, but it has been a while now and she still does it. Is this normal? Because she is a small breed (And a girl…) she does tend to be a bit more aggressive than my other two buns. (Who are mini rex/ who else knows what mixes who are bot quite a bit larger)

        Thank you!

Some bunnies are just noisier than others. Does she do it when she eats?

Sounds normal to me. Funny that she’s deaf though, you wouldn’t think she would make as much noise. One of mine is deaf and he doesn’t really make any noises. My other one makes some noises though. Others on the forum say they have really noisy buns, so I think each bun is just different.

Did you say deaf or dwarf?
It sounds like honking, which is a happy sound. Even growling is not unusual with a vocal bunny. It’s the high pitched squeal that means pain, as does loud grinding of teeth. Otherwise, she is just talking.

Yep, some bunnies are just vocal! Mine have done it when they’re ticked off at me (then it sounds more angry and growly), but mostly do it when they’re really excited about food 🙂

And yes, I think any bunny will go pretty crazy when pellet time comes around!
