Frank Jr has discovered my windowsill and now that he has moved everything off of it he has been spending hours and hours up there.  He is licking the windowsill itself like crazy.  I’m worried that he’s tasting something that may not be good for him… or could he just like the texture?  He’s always licked me a lot, but I’ve never seen him lick an object so much.

Zeus licks tiles, linoleum, windows, mirrors, and the ceramic of the side of my bathtub. Smooth surfaces are very lickable, apparently. LOL. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Yeah. Moose does the same thing. Whats with boy bunnies and licking windows? My girls could care less.

Evelyn licks the metal feet of my desk, but that’s it. My friend’s rabbit will sit there any lick my hand until I pull it away, but even that rarely works! Some bunnies are just wired that way, I guess.

Make sure your windowsill doesn’t have any chemical cleaners or paint on it. Maybe, if your rabbit just won’t stop, clean it off with a little soap and water just to be safe. I know my windowsill is covered in latex paint, so it’s off limits!

I was wondering what the sill is made of?
You can wash it down with a vinegar and water solution, which will get any bacteria and residue from other cleaners off of it. If you just do that, he will probably stop licking it.
But if it’s not a hazardous material (probably isn’t) then a mild unscented soap and water solution after the white vinegar will remove the unpleasant smell and leave it very clean.
Except for the bunny lip prints, of course.

jackikal, most residential paint is latex its rare to have oil based paint in homes tehse days, as its waaaay more difficult to work with, and has tons more fumes. the paint itself isnt the problem, unless theres chips in it the bunny can lick off.

Maisy LOVES to lick my wood stove.. I wouldn’t worry about it too much as long as you don’t put cleaner on your sill regularly.

Bindi sits on the top of the loveseat and licks the window glass. We keep it sealed up with plastic all winter so he loves when we take it off in the Spring. I suspect he likes the cold feel on his tongue. Sometimes he even tries to bite it. Bunnies are weird!
