jetson is only 6 weeks old. i noticed him jumping and scratching a little too much so after taking him to the vet’s office it was confirmed it was fleas. since he’s too young for any treatment of any meds  i was told to use dawn dish liquid, a small amount i am to bath him in. who knew?

of course i have to also clean his area. i am honestly a little nervous to give him a bath, wish me luck.

          He’s cute.

That’s interesting – I knew that they wash oil off of wildlife with this but didn’t know about fleas.

You might try putting a towel underneath his feet in the sink to help him with traction too. You never know too – he might actually like the water, I’ve heard of some rabbits liking it – he just may not like the dishwashing liquid…

I think the drying is going to be challenging too – hopefully you live in a warm climate and he will dry quickly.

Oh he’s precious! I also haven’t heard of using Dawn for fleas, but let us know how it goes.

Well i did place a wash rag in the sink like sarita suggested which turned out to help, thanks. After i lathered him all up i left it on for about a minute or two before rinsing out completely.
He was a good baby about it, didn’t try to run or fight. I used a couple of towels to dry him off then wrapped him in a dry towel and blanket, holding him for about an hour to help keep him warm. Scrubbed his cage good and since then i have not noticed any other signs. I think problem solved.

He is such a cutie!! I’m going to keep this tip in mind, might be a better solution since it seems less full of chemicals than medicines. I hope it worked out for you.

LOL Yes dog owners would love to know this!! I’ve heard of people giving their dogs garlic for fleas!! (Garlic=bad for dogs) Yikes!

He’s just ADORABLE! Glad the bath went well -let us know if the fleas have vanished!

I think what kills the fleas is being suffocated with soap. When I worked as a dog groomer we soaped dogs up with a citrus soap and left it on for about 5 minutes and the fleas would die.

yes agreed, that with the soap plus the water drowns them.
looks like it did work for him, he seems back to normal, not scratching like before.

Whoa, good to know! I have seen 3 fleas in our home. I have gotten bit several times. We vacuumed well and seems that our dog was the case. lol :o)
I haven’t seen any lately, hoping they are gone! YIKES!
