Have you had her for the 2 years, or was owned by someone else before you? Is your bunny spayed? Has she always been like this or did it get worse? The softer poops are a concern. What is her diet? Is she a bit overweight? Does she pee everywhere as well? What do you use for her litter? Do you notice an area where she “pile” poos?

For step by step instructions see the litter training page – , however before you start training her, we may need to get to the bottom of what’s going on with the soft poops as that can be health related.

The linoleum should be fine for flooring as long as urine is not able to get underneath the linoleum (via the edges).

I’m with BB, that is worrying. I mean, are we talking Cecals or diarrhea? I sometimes spoil mine with too many greens and get cecals to the max but diarrhea is another issue and you didn’t mention if she is leaving normal poops. My kids have a timber floor with vinyl but when all are spayed will be going into a bunny room with all vinyl and a special indoor outdoor pet mat. Are the poops like little bunches of grapes or are the actually gooey slush piles ?

thanks for the replys, they are always cecil poops that look like grapes, and she is pooping normally in her litterbox and does not pee outside of it. i always feed her normal pellet food with no added treats mixed in, timothy hay and water. from time to time ill give her carrots and lettuce but she dosent like many other veggies. i have owned her since January of 2011 and she was not litterbox trained. do you think putting more then one litterbox help?

I have two Bugz and Anya who live together and I have tried everything to litter train them but Anya is the big issues she just does not get it. I have had to learn to live with cleaning their cage daily. I have had her for two years, I even got her checked at the vet. For her any pressure on her bladder or back end and it comes out, once she a peed in a spot Bugz does the male thing and pees there are well. There cage has three litter trays and she does try to go in there as much as possible but I have noticed that where she sleeps is always a mess in the morning and her fav spots also need big clean ups. maybe it is something like that?

I’m not an expert but I think it’s a diet issue. Cecals are normally consumed at the source where as if here other poops are in the litterbox….well……
Firstly Lettuce…what kind of lettuce? Mine don’t have any lettuce at all. Iceberg and pale lettuces being bad for them and they just don’t like the dark fancy lettuce. Also what kind of pellets, do they have a high fat/protein level ? Usually excess cecals is caused by an over rich diet. My tribe got spoiled this morning because I slept in so we had Kale, Basil, Pak Choy, Flat Leaf Parsley and some celery leaves. The result, huge excess cecals the size of a mans thumb. My fault I know I should reign it in. Also I’m a little heavy handed with the craisins. Unfortunately change of diet is a LONG LONG slow process but I think your bun would benefit. Lose the lettuce and introduce some Kale, Parsley or Pak/Bok Choy. Better yet download the bunny food list here. Look at the pellets and possibly change to one of the recommended ones like Oxbow. You will need to start mixing a little each day to the current blend (like half a teaspoon to a cup and just keep increasing it slowly until the new one is the majority. Whilst doing this you will have to monitor for diarrhea or distress and slow down again if you encounter problems.
