Could you list the ingredients? I don’t remember how old Todd is, but if he is under 6-8 months he can still be on an alfalfa based pellet. After that you need to switch to timothy. Though the calcium is a little high on this food anyways. Just make sure you slowly make the change to a new pellet. Mix the new in with a little of the old until you get to all new. Don’t want any upset tummies!

Todd is currently 5 months old, the first ingredient on the bag is alfalfa meal so i think ill mix that in with the food he has now and then once the bag is gone which will prob be in like 2 or 3 months ill switch him over to oxbow pellets that way hes on a pellet thats timothy hay base. Is that alright?…or should i not be even giving him this food?

I’m certainly not an expert and I’m sure some of the forum leaders will respond soon but this is what I understand to be true:

Young rabbits can handle a little more calcium in their diet, so I don’t think that will be a problem for a short time. Oxbows calcium level in their young rabbit food is 0.50-1%.
Since Todd (who’s adorably cute, by the way!) is only 5 months old, it’s definitely ok for him to be on the alfalfa meal. I believe I even read on the Oxbow site (or back of the young rabbit food bag) that buns less than a year old can be on alfalfa pellets, then switch to Timothy after that. (I need to find that info again to be sure, and I hope one of the leaders-or members with an Oxbow bag handy-will respond to that so that we have the correct info!)
The fiber content of your food is less than the Oxbow food (theirs is 22-25% fiber) so thats something to be aware of. Is he a good hay and veggies eater? Does he still get unlimited pellets? If you want to see all the Oxbow nutritional info its on their animal health website.

I know this may not be much help, but maybe some of the info will be helpful. Sorry I don’t know more about it yet. I’m new to the world of indoor buns (Frank N Beanz are 4 months old now, so I’m definitely still learning too!) Good luck!

Ive never heard of this brand but upon doing a quick search discovered it is higher in calcium than many of the other brands.

You might find this informative: http://www.rabbit.org/journal/3-4/pellet-info.html

Although, I wouldnt be too concerned about the calcium if its just short term.

Just make sure to do any pellet changes gradually over a few weeks.

When I switched my buns from Martins to Oxbow they were not happy! But after about a week, they realized thats all they were getting and now they all love them.
