I just got my bunny about 5 days ago and it has been going great. However today, when I got home from school I came downstairs ony to see her food looking like coffee grinds! (or like this http://i-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/sf/8-25-08coffeegrinds.jpg)

That shocked me because I had no idea how it got like that. Also, her water was yellow (it is kept in a dish). I cleaned up her cage only to find pee or something on the newspaper below her dishes. It look cloudy and weird. Like this: http://images.bunspace.com/static/bunpics/8379/94286.jpg

Now I’m frightened that something may be wrong with her!

However, she seems normal. She came up to see me, and is hopping around, eating and drinking all normally. What do you think is up?

I read something about having too much calcium or something. Where would she be getting too much from?

I don’t really understand what you mean about her food looking like coffee grinds…do you mean her pellets?

As for rabbit urine, it can come in all colors – that urine looks fine to me. As for the water, it’s possible she peed in it…what is her cage like? Perhaps she doesn’t have enough room in her cage or her cage area needs to be reconfigured.

Buunny pee is usually weird colored and cloudy it can even sometimes be red. She prob just spilled her water in her pellets and that why they look like coffee grinds. Im sure she is ok =]

I’m sure she is fine. Lola liked to mark her food and water bowls before she was fixed – which sounds like what your rabbit is doing. She’s just claiming what is hers!

Edited to add: but if you haven’t taken her to her first vet visit – now might be the time to start looking.  you know your bun best and it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

That color urine is normal for rabbits. If she continues to pee into her water bowl and/or pee or spill water into her pellet bowl I would think about maybe getting a food and water bowl that you can attach to the side of the cage so it is up higher.
