Within the last week and a half Lola has started rubbing her neck on things..my hand when I put it up to her, shoes, wires, a lot of things.. At first I just thought she wanted me to pet her neck, but now she’s always doing it.

        What is this?

Are you sure she isn’t chinning? That means she is claiming stuff as hers.

Is she scratching it with her hind legs a lot? I was thinking maybe she has mites.

It’s actually her chin – it’s called chinning – she is marking with special scent glands she has in her chin area.

Is it the bottom of her neck? or behind her ears? If it is under her neck it is most likely chinning!

No, just running her neck on things..I guess it is more of her chin.

yeah. if she puts/rubs her chin on things she is marking it as hers.

The first sign of a hormonal teen! Though chinning is something they can do throughout their whole lives, even after being spayed/neutered. Nova still does it to things like my shoes, feet, books, backpack, boxes, etc. It doesn’t necessarily mean that she (Lola) is old enough to be spayed now, but it does mean she isn’t a baby bunny any more!

Its so funny to watch a bunny go around the room, this is mine, this is mine, this is mine. Olivia is crazy possessive. Everything thats chinnable is hers. If she really likes the item, she licks it too.

I love when Bunjamin chins things. He never chins a person though. I think it’s cute when they chin people. And KytKattin that makes sense to me because after his neuter bunjamin chins stuff a lot less. Which is sad because I think its cute. Oh well…

Powder chinned me a few times before he was neutered and it made my hand stink pretty bad o.O now he doesn’t chin people he just chins objects… but he chins EVERYTHING. “This is mine, mine, mine mine, mine… oh and this too” first thing he does when he’s let out to play. It’s rather cute when buns do it.

Nate likes to chin everything too, He has claimed everything in the house including dog toys, the dogs themselves, me, his food before he eats it… haha

I got her a new, bigger water bowl today and the first thing she did was rub her chin on the side of it. lol
