        Hello everyone :]

I just wanted to ask you guys for any tips or advice on bringing my rabbits out of their cage. One of my bunny, Joey, is easy to take out because everytime I open the door he runs towards it. However, since the c&c cage is pretty big, it’s very hard to take them out for their daily excercise and grooming. The two of my other rabbits always hide and run into corners where I cannot reach them. I don’t want to force or scare them, so I usually wait until they’re near the door again.

Bribing them with food usually doesn’t work because they would take it and run away. What’s the best way to get them out without hurting/scaring them?

        Thank you in advance

The best way to get your rabbits to come out of their cage is to let them come out themselves . It sounds like you might have some shy little ones…when you have a few hours, try leaving the cage open and letting them wander out. Instead of holding food and trying to bribe them out, maybe you could lay out a trail leading farther out of the cage. If they go right back into the cage after eating all of the food, don’t worry..it just takes time. Bunnies are the most active in the morning and in the evening, and they’re naturally curious and will eventually start poking their noses around to see what’s outside.

Grabbing them is probably not helping, and definitely more scary than anything. When they come out to explore, try playing the “ignore game”…sit on the floor and let them approach you at their own comfort. Treats definitely help too .

Also, what kind of flooring do you have? A lot of bunnies don’t like slippery flooring like tile or wood floors, and putting down a rug can make a huge difference.

            Thank you so much

            I will definitely try that.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. Give them the option to come out and play. If they’re not comfortable yet, try again the next day. Force will almost always back fire with buns. If the space is safe, leave the room with their cage open and go about your day. They will venture out. Make sure there is a den area or hidey house so they don’t have to be in a wide open area.

Are they able to come out on their own? Maybe get down on the ground and ensure their route out of the cage is comfortable, easy to traverse and not scary looking. And then I would just leave it open and they’ll come out given time
