so for the past few weeks? i suppose, my rabbit has been peeing himself. he is a neutered (and has been for a few months) male holland lop rabbit. he lives in a XL dog crate and is litter box trained and has a second shelf. but i OFTEN find pee on the second shelf with paw printsALL over the bottom of the cage and i touch his bottom and yep its soaking wet and so are his feet. I’ve been giving him a “bath” every time he does this because 1) it smells and 2) it can’t be good for his skin. also its messy and gross. i put him in his carrier and fill up the tub a few inches high and put the carrier in it and sort of swish it around the the pee rinses off his body, i have not used soap. the water is only a few inches high. he keeps on doing it though. WHY? he doesn’t seem to be experiencing any other weird … things. that might indicate a uti or anything. its just this. his diet hasn’t changed. NOTHING. and the fur on his butt has like weird looking dread locks? lol from the pee D: and its moist >_> so theres pee on it but not to the point where its soaking and i have to bathe him cause his feet are clean. please help D:!

It sounds like a UTI to me. That type of thing can very well indicate that. I would have a vet examine him.

Yeah, could be UTI or anything else. Once you rule out health issues, you could then explore a behavioural reason.

I have a 7 year old neutered Holland Lop, that “was” potty trained. A few weeks ago we noticed how brown and dingy his feet and rear were, so we tried to brush and wash the matted fur. Took him to the vet when it was bad and they shaved his end area. It got worse at home. He pees everywhere now, and not int he box, no clue why. Nothing has changed. Took him back to the vet, put him on meds, shaved him again, gave him a medicine bath to help with the sores on his hocks and rear. And still nothing. Did a urinalysis, comes back normal. Since last week, I bathe him daily now, which has to be stressful for him, but I can’t let him sit in his urine all day. Sigh…any ideas?? Thanks.

TobyBun – please do not pull up and responds to old posts – it is better to start your own post…I am going to ask you to start a new post.

In answer to your question, it is possible he has arthritis – have the vet do an x-ray. The x-ray could also show possible bladder sludge…

Going to lock this post and ask you to start a new post.
