In the 6 months we’ve had her – Lola has destroyed nothing….until today.  Today we lost out electric recliner – chewed right through the wires when the boyfriend was supposed to be watching and tonight she also put a hole in the couch.  Yikes.  Talk about making up for lost time…

Is there anything that would bring this chewing on all of a sudden?  She has plenty of hay and I switch out her chew toys regularly and buy her new ones so she doesn’t get bored….

It says she was spayed in April in your profile, sometimes before their bodies completely adjust to the change they can get a hormonal surge which can lead to some pretty bad behaviors. Or if there is any change lately she may feel neglected and be seeking attention. Or she may just be changing as she matures and some of her instinctual behaviors are starting to come out more. Wire covers and a spray bottle for the cloth parts of furniture works wonders.

Ya – we have wire covers. She just happened to wiggle up inside the recliner and found some wires. Ughhhhhhh. That’s what happens when you leave the boyfriend to watch the bun and he picks up an Xbox controller…. (I was so tempted to say “I told ya so….” but I held back).

I think it could be a hormone surge because she has been a little snippy lately too. She’s never lunged at me but she has been giving those light nips that remind you that she is there or that she is in need of another nose rub.

Her surgery was 3 weeks ago – do you know how long it takes for her to level-out? I’ve read a bunch of conflicting things.

It takes about a month, sometimes longer, for hormones to settle. in the meantime, invest in wire covers, as even calm bunnies sometimes get bored and want to nibble

I know that sometimes Tipsy is a complete angel, but some days she is a holy terror, for no apparent reason. If it wasnt hormones, I would just say she was bored and thought, Hey this looks fun! But hormones does seem about right. haha funny thing about your boyfriend… I left mine to look after my rabbit for 5 minutes, she was being a terror today, and I specifically said to watch her. I came back and asked him what she was doing and he said, just chilling… I look down the hallway and saw her tearing up the carpet… AGH! Ohh boyfriends and their attention spans. I also lost a nice gardening book/present for my dad from Tipsy’s teeth because he put it in a reachable area… Boys.

Yeah, at three weeks it could be her hormones. And yes… boyfriends are not to be trusted haha I have lost three chargers and a few others things to boyfriend watching bunnies. *sigh*

This thread just makes me feel better. Bunjamin’s been extra naughty lately too and I figured it was hormones but it’s discouraging sometimes. He was such an angel before the neuter. And this thread makes me feel better about my boyfriend too because he’s horrible watching the bunny. One day I came home to a bunny who looked so sick just because boyfriend wasn’t paying attention and the bunny room got over 80 degrees. He got a scolding and a lesson after that one. Threaten to make him wear a sweatshirt all the time so he would make more accurate assessments on temperature from now on.

Bunjamin got fixed right around the same time as my Molly didn’t he? It was March 14th for her. I feel like she is FINALLY just starting to calm down. Her hormones went absolutely crazy for a while I seriously was at such a loss she was driving me insane
