        I saw something’s red on Belle’s feet.

My roommate flipped her over so we can see better what’s on her foot

        That’s what we saw.

I don’t understand how that happens.

I don’t have wired cage or something like that.

I looked up at google. I think one possible reason is overgrown nails. It is hard for us to see how long is too long on her paws with long furs cover the nails. She won’t let us touch her feet. We used to clip her nails like every 1 month and half. I guess we will have to clip her nails every month from now on.

        Is this sore hock?

Looks like it. Could you get her to the vet so it can be treated?

Yea, don’t worry, I have enough money for any EMG vet bills like right now.

I called vet today but vets aren’t working at evenings. I’m going to call vet the first thing in morning tomorrow and try to find available time for me to go on the same day.

The photo on the right looks like just a callous and it’s normal for rabbits to have a bare spot (though it should be normally covered with surrounding fur). But it does look red and irritated in the left photo. I know this is the same foot, but same area though does look sore (but no skin broken).

So, is it just lightly pink and slightly calloused or is it really red and sore?

I think you could wait for normal vet hours -if it is broken open you’ll need to really ensure that the litter box etc are very clean to avoid infection in the meantime.

I can’t see the pics but if it’s really red and sore a vet trip would be beneficial. My vet gave me an anti-bacterial scrub to clean the area and a topical cream. If the skin is open she will probably need oral antibiotics.

You will need to take measures to make sure they don’t worsen/recur. What type of flooring/bedding does she currently have?

LPT, BB had to remove the pix because pasting it in caused a slow down due to the code.
I know that sometimes Neosporin has been used topically, but I hesitated to even mention it because you want the vet to see it first, not just treat undiagnosed, especially if it’s getting worse or open now.

I went to vet this morning and got the cream treatment for her feet. I have to apply cream on her red sore feet once or twice a day. Then bath her feet every 5 days with warm water to remove the build-up cream then reapply cream again until the next five days.. repeat method until her feet will heal.

I was right, it’s sore hocks.

What litter do you use? And does she use a litter screen? For sensitive feet on buns sometimes the pellet litters or screens are too rough without something soft over the top.

Wood stove pellets. The litter box is too big for litter screen from binkybunny store. I found a similar product from home depot store. I made it but somehow my rabbits don’t like it and try to destroy it.

Carpet can be rough on sore hocks. You might want to think about another flooring. I thought carpet would be a good idea for Bindi but it made his sore hocks worse. I covered his condo with these mats:http://www.petmountain.com/product/dog-cra…t-bed.html

They are plush, flat mats you can buy at the pet store to go in dog crates. They come in all sizes from small to gigantic. It made a huge difference and I haven’t dealt with sore hocks since I put them in my 2 bunnies’ condos that have had sore hocks before. I strongly reccommend them. Of course, you have to supervise at first to make sure your bunny is not chewing them.

You might try putting a layer of hay over the woodstove pellets.

Re- Neosporin, I read to not use the kind with pain relief medicine in it because its toxic to bunnies?
