So I heard Nova pee tonight (as I am up way to late doing a school assignment that is due tomorrow) so I jumped up and chased her back into her cage where she gets to stay for a while. I am not going to try to understand why she did it when she had a litterbox literally 2ft away and I know she walked 4ft to get to the spot she peed when she could have walked 2ft to get to the box she skipped or 2ft the other way to get to her other box. She is probably jealous that I spent a good portion of the night watching videos of macaws and crows. Anyways, when I was cleaning it up, I noticed it was perfectly clear and didn’t really smell (though I am slightly congested). I know that clear urine is normal, but the stuff in her box always seems so much darker (though it does have time to set). She has never peed outside of her litterbox in the same place twice, so I really don’t know what gives with her.

Mochi urinates different colors, it depends on the amount of her water intake. Maybe Nova drank water a lot that time?

Clear usually means a lot of water, and it’s a very very good sign in humans so it’s probably good with her as well. I agree with Ceil.

And if she did it to get your attention, it worked.

I was hoping that the super clear urine was a good sign that she is now getting enough water. It was cloudy and dark before according to the vet, but now it is so clear I could pass it off as water!
Her veggies every night are probably two cups of veggies sitting in half a cup of water. Sprinkled with a touch of salt per recommendation of the vet to make her extra thirsty. Plus she doesn’t really get pellets any more.

Was there a lot of urine as well? Without substantial changes in diet, significant changes in urine content/volume can indicate kidney problems. Bunny urine does tend to vary a lot so I wouldn’t worry about this kind of one-time thing, but if her urine output stays very large and very diluted I’d take her to a vet for a urine/blood analysis just to make sure everything is good .

Powder’s urine goes from orange (lots of veggies) to nearly clear (lots of water) to regular, to in between… as long as it isn’t cloudy or bloody I probably wouldn’t worry too much. I get to see Powders urine color every time he pees btw because he HAS to have a paper towel on top of his litter box, so when he pees I change it for him. lol

She had a urinalysis about 2 weeks ago and I have just been doing what the vet said because it was cloudy and there were some small crystals (which lead to sludge without management). So there have been somewhat substantial changes in diet, particularly in the whole cutting out pellets except as an occasional (weekly?) treat. She also has a wider variety of veggies now, some of which are new to her diet such as kale, mint, and wheatgrass. She doesn’t pee any more than usual, well maybe a little more because she is getting more water so the output is not unexpected based on the input. And trust me, I heard her pee. It was like a fire hose. She is not having any problems with that! She does need a blood test just based on her age, but I don’t have funds for that right now after the urinalysis and molar trim.
