I fold a towel up and place it in the carrier for my two, gets any accidents so they don’t have to lay in a puddle of pee and is a soft area to lay on. I also put a little pile of hay in it so they have a snack.

I use these – I just find the size that fit in the bottom of my carriers and they are machine washable:

I like them because they don’t slip around like towels – they have a nice snug fit.

I use a folded towel, the towel is also used so the vet can burrito wrap him because he is feisty

I use a grippy doormat thing on the bottom for traction, plus a towel for comfort.

I have a big carrier, big enough for a soft grippy rug thing, a toy, water bottle and a little stuffed animal bunny for them to lean up against
Note: I make sure buns don’t chew the toy or rug

I put a towel in the bottom and then I put a knitted blanket on top of that, so if they pee it will soak into the towel and leave the wool dry.

Thanks for all the great tips I will have to try the non slip mat and a towel. Sunshine loves to chew though so I am hoping she doesn’t chew the mat or towel!

In Missy’s carrier I put some carefresh bedding down then slip a pillowcase on backwards over the bottom of her cage before i clamp the top on to make sure the bedding doesn’t fall out. That way she has some traction and its soft on her feet. Then put a ceramic bowl with her hay and a chew block and put a water bottle on the door.

I like a small carrier. The one I have for Porky is very compact. It is low so he can’t stand up in it, which prevents him from standing at a dangerous moment such as when I go around a tight corner. The air vents are just slits, so it is fairly dark inside and quieter. It has just enough room for him to turn around.

When I was in 4h as a teen we traveled with our bunnies to shows quite often. We generally took our bunnies in small cages about the size that most pet stores sell as permanent homes for bunnies. The bunny would spend a few hours on the day of the show in the cage. Bunnies traveling in wire cages that gave them room to stand and hopped sometimes got injured when cars stopped short or went around curves. It’s that experience that led me to feel that small and confined is safer for short trips to the vet.

This is just a carrier, not a full time home, so bunny is probably only spending at most 1 or 2 hours in it very occasionally. For a very long trip, I would probably decide comfort trumped safety, but Porky really never goes farther than the vet (which is also where he boards when we go away.)

I line the bottom with paper towels and throw in a hand full of parsley. Parsely makes a good travel snack, b/c it doesn’t spill but does provide moisture.

I found a finished fleece flat bed similar to the size and shape of what Sarita pictured. It just stays in the carrier.

I have a hot pink fabric carrier with a sheep-skin-type of insert.
