Since my rabbit was at the vet thursday he had some greasy latex smelling residue on his head so at night I’ve been taking a warm damp cloth and washing his head and he REALLY likes it, he lets me wash his ears, his head, his nose, his cheeks & around his eyes ( he usually doesn’t let me touch his cheeks/eye area ) He relaxes so much and flops out while I do it, he gets up and leans towards me to nudge me if I stop.

Does it feel like another rabbit grooming him or something? I’ve never seen him so relaxed and happy, not even when I just rub his ears. Before bed when I sit in his pen he immediately jumps on his cat scratcher pedestal now and lowers his head waiting for his “bath”.

Probably. I’ve been doing the same thing with trying to bond my bunnies, I think the dampness simulated the tongue better and adds a little friction

Aw how sweet. I bet that he feels like you are licking him. Has he ever groomed you? When Huckles licks my knees, she always leaves the area pretty damp, similar to a wet washcloth. Maybe you are on to a nifty bonding technique for you guys! I might have to try that now haha

He hasn’t licked *me* but he has licked my clothes or a blanket I was using. I think he shows me he loves me when he leans over my shoulder to put his nose on my cheek, or when I’m laying on the floor he stands on my chest and nose bumps me on the nose then lays down so I can rub his ears.
