I’ve got the HRS safe greens list, but I was wondering what some of the board’s buns particularly liked.  So far, BWNN likes red and green leaf lettuces, spinach, parsley, celery, watercress and carrots.  Cilantro was a total non-starter–snuffled it and immediately left.  Romaine is edible, but not relished.  And yes, I’ll keep the amounts of oxalic acid/calcium laden foods down, but is there any one green your bun particularly loves?

Frankly, I’m not sure what Peppy’s favorites are, she kind of goes nuts over anything green and leafy haha. Except dill..she won’t touch dill for some reason, silly girl.

Willbur: parsley, kale, collard greens, spinach, dandelion greens
Totoro: everything so far (green leaf, romaine that Wilbur won’t touch) although I don’t think he cared much for endive

of course all of those would be gladly traded in for banana

Hazel loves cilantro the most, then parsley. She also loves kale and romaine, too.

Hmm….kale seems to be a pretty popular favorite. I’ll pick some up next grocery run. Thanks for all the ideas! I’ll give some of the herbs (basil, oregano and the like) a try, too.

Dandelion and parsley are usually the first to disappear when I offer them in their salad. They also really like carrot tops.

Funny thing is – I thought Kale was a good vegetable for them – so I was feeding it as his main because he absolutely loved it! But then I recently found out it’s not and should be fed more limited. haha I’ve still gotta find somewhere that sells dandelion though!

He really likes Kale, Parsley and Cilantro though. But the Italian Parsley not the flat leaves.

Mr. Buck, kale is fine – here is an updated article and veggie list from House Rabbit Society which dispels some of the old ideas about kale and some other veggies like brocolli, etc…

It’s so varied by bun. Hannah will eat anything and everything as soon as I put the bowl down. Otto will only eat romaine, leaf lettuce, and parsley. Actually, he wouldn’t touch parsley either until we got Hannah and he saw her eating it – now it’s his favorite.

Chacha bun’s cusine: Romaine, Cilantro, Italian Parsley, Dandelions (if the Asian store has it that week), Chicory, Carrot tops.

My customers will offer their carrot tops to me. I mention that I have a rabbit, and how she LOVES carrot tops. They offer the tops to me because they do not want the entire carrot to go to waste! Chacha bun won’t even touch carrots, but will eat up carrot tops

Dandelion greens can be found at Asian grocery stores.

Whole foods are like Trader Joes? I typically just go to Jewel – a regular grocery store.
But I know we have Asian stores here – thanks ChaCha!
I’ll look for both and find what’s the closest.

Hodari like just about everything, except collard and mustard greens. Her current, and I would say probably absolute, favorite is Brussels sprouts. Another that hasn’t been mentioned is bok choy/ baby bok choy. She also really loves Tuscan (dinosaur) kale, broccoli, and dandelion greens and flowers, like many other bunnies. Arugula (rocket) is another thing I buy frequently.

Favourites are tough because my buns love nearly everything. This is the list of greens that I’ve tried with my buns and that they have enjoyed:
Red/green leaf lettuce, dandelions, parsley, cilantro, dill, basil, marjoram, mint, celery, chickweed, milk thistle, radicchio, cucumber, mustard greens, radish tops, carrot tops, beet tops, endive, mint, basil, flowers (pansies, marigolds, daisies, roses, chamomile, apple blossoms), berry leaves (raspberry, strawberry, blueberry), wheat grass, cauliflower leaves, fennel, bok choy, tiny bok choy (perhaps not the correct name)

They don’t like swiss chard, collards, kale, zucchini, broccoli, spinach, watercress and rosemary, however. I offer it to them from time to time, and time and time again, they reject these ones. Well, collards and chard are on the “I will eat it if you leave me with no other greens” list.

Regarding dandelions, I think it’s perhaps the location? I see it at every grocery store in Toronto, Canada. It should be very easy to grow since it’s weed. Mr. Buck, if you like, you can try going to Home Depot for seeds and planting them yourself. Save yourself lots of money in the long run. Or, check your backyard. If you have it and your have an un-sprayed lawn, it should be safe. Just be sure to wash thoroughly. =)

I do all my shopping at Trader Joe’s (except for the occasional stop at nob hill/raleigh’s for things like dandelion grreens and dinosaur kale) But my rabbits love the bagged wild arugula and the southern blend ( which has a good variety of collard, spinach, mustard and turnip greens) as well as kale and the banana chips(my dog loves those too!). But ever since Peach and Ham have bonded, they’ll pretty much eat anything as fast as they can just to get more then the other, silly buns!

You see, where I got him at (A little farm) HE was never fed a proper diet, so I have to introduce greens slowly.
I am gonna take a wild guess and say his will be dandelion greens. Yum…

Nova adores cilantro. When it is cheap and I can get lots of bunches (think 4 for $1!) she gets that as her main veggie for the week. She also loves dandelion greens. I get mine at Save Mart, but I live in one of the largest agricultural centers in my state. The nice thing about Nova is that she will eat anything I put in her bowl. The only things I noticed she doesn’t love is mint, and any lettuce. Wait, she also doesn’t love mustard greens. She will eat them, but they are the things I am most likely to find some part of in her bowl the next day. She also is picky about eating stems of things, particularly those mentioned.

Though her favorite thing in the whole world other than fruits is carrots. She could eat them until she popped. I probably give her more than I should…

I can not believe how picky my new bunny is. All of the bunnies I have owned or fostered in the past will eat pretty much anything. The only thing I have found she likes so far is Kale, romaine and parsley. She will not touch carrots, mint, banana! (WTH?), cucumber, or collards. I think maybe she is not used to the variety and may warm up to some. Right now all she cares about is her pellets and I did finally get her to take a Craisin out of my hand today. SHe is not even that excited about the veggies she likes when I put them in. I guess I will keep trying things for her but my veggie bin is getting full of veggies that I don’t use!

But as far as veggies go – spinach, red leaf lettuce, leafy cabbage (chinese or korean, she isn’t too picky), broccoli and kale. I let her try roses once and she loved them… but there really isn’t much she will turn his nose up at, she just likes food.
