         Hay!

Rabbits benefit from a variety of hay or grass in their diet.  Different types, and cut from different places and at different times of year all offer different nutrients and textures.  Hay (or grass) should be the cornerstone of their diet and not just a bedding!  Hanging baskets, toilet roll inners and plant pots stuffed with hay all make foraging fun.

TBWNN (The Bun With No Name) is young yet at 5 months, so alfalfa is still his favorite, but he eats some timothy, orchard grass and oat hat, too. He gets his hay in a small mixed pile in his x-pen and has a good time rooting through it to find the one particular bit he wants at that moment   A also just got a bag of Oxbow Botanicals and I’ll mix a handful of that in today to see how he likes it.  Like most teenagers, he’ll eat just about anything.

My rabbits are picky butts and I can only get them to eat orchard grass from oxbow – I have tried botanical, timothy, oat… they say none of it is as tasty and pull it out to throw it aside. They do love grass from the yard though and wheat grass when I buy it for them.
