Molly is a lionshead  so she has longer hair than a lot of bunnies. I brush her hair everyday and she didn’t really like it at first but now we have got to the point where she is fine with me brushing her and checking her ears and all that, and I noticed right towards the her bottom, like right above the tail, she has several mats of hair. they aren’t big, but they are mats none the less.  I guess I wasn’t brushing far enough down towards the tail, and I didn’t realize until it was too late. I don’t want to brush them cuz it will just tug at her sensitive skin, and besides brushing a mat wouldn’t really do anything for it anyway  what should I do? I feel bad…but I didn’t realize until they were already there. Again they aren’t very big, but i don’t want her having a matted bum

Use a comb to untangle the matting. If it is too big, trim it out. It helps if you do it with two people.

It’s important to untangle the matting before it becomes into chunks.

Are they hard mats or are they just dense patches of fur that is in the early stages of matting. If they are hard, then the only thing you can do is cut them off. It’s not a big deal, I cut things off of Wooly all the time. If it is still salvageable, then use a comb to work them out. Start at the ends of the hair and gradually grab further in with the comb.

yeah they are hard clumps I guess I will just trim them. I wasn’t sure if i should but if that’s the best way then looks like she is getting a trim
