Ok, this is a bit of a weird project I am trying to come up with –

My cockatiel is obsessed with the bunnies litter box. He thinks Powders poo tastes really awesome apparently. Even worse, he thinks kissing ME after trying to eat it is a good idea. Ewwwwwww.

So I am trying to come up with a way of making the litter box a little more blocked in, without discouraging Powder from using it. I was thinking maybe making a wire grid over the box, with a hole for him to jump through, kind of like a cage but open – he won’t use cages if the door closes, but he never minded them when they were kept open. What do you guys think? Do you have anything kind of “closed in” around your litter boxes, maybe to keep the litter more maintained that might also work for keeping a little pesky bird away?

How about building a “box” around it with those neat idea cubes. That way birdy will perch on top of the cubes instead of on the litter box….hopefully. And it would still be out there “in the open” without that enclosed feeling.

Might work. He’s a pretty mellow rabbit, so long as the box is clean, he’ll use it… usually. I also have a wire top to the cage Stickers came in, i’m using the bottom as Powders second litter box, so I was thinking for that one maybe just put the top back on it. Birds are so weird, on top of wanting to give me kisses, he likes to stand in my plates while I eat and he doesn’t care if there is rabbit urine on his feet, ew.

You could purchase a cover like what they use for cats… It would provide more privacy to you bun and would prevent your dog from getting to the litter box. Good Luck!
