        Hi,

Haven’t been here in a while! Buster has been very healthy (past GI stasis problems) and is doing just great with eating and pooping and everything else seems totally fine.

Now I have noticed her little nose squeaking. She doesnt have any discharge from her nose or eyes and seems fine. Just seems to have a problem breathing through nose, i guess? It’s very very slight and my husband doesnt even hear it. I do, though.

Wondering if she has a cold or if its really necessary for a vet visit for a slight squeak? This is new, so I am worried of course.

Because it is new, I think it is worth a vet visit. Nova always has a heavy breath. It is just because of the way her nose is shaped. She sounds like a little pig! lol. But like I said, it is normal for her, and what you are observing is not normal for your bunny, so unless you can think of something that might be causing it (IE, new litter, painting, seasonal allergies, etc), it might be worth a vet visit. In addition, if it has been a year, he should go in for a check-up anyways.

Now, I know this might sound odd, but do you by and chance have a stethoscope? Since my mom is a nurse I just grew up with one in the house so I always thought it was a common thing. Anyways, you could always try to listen to his lungs yourself to see if you can get a better idea of where the noise is coming from (in his lungs or, if you can’t here anything in his lungs, his nasal cavity instead).

Well, rabbits do not get colds. If you think it’s a problem, then a vet visit would be a good idea. It could also possibly be that she has always made this sound and you’ve just now noticed it. Is it when she is resting or all the time?

Ok, maybe a respitory issue then? I dont hear it all of the time. Its usually at night after she eats actually. I think I would have noticed before.
It’s definitely not too consistent, so i’m not that worried. She’s totally fine every other way! I’ll call the doc and see what they think.

Is it like more of a snort or a high pitched squeak? My younger bunny does that, but in quiet snorts. I’ve read that I means that they are really happy, and very loud snorts mean they are angry. He has never done a loud one, but he is a very loving bunny, and I guess it is just his personality.

Nate’s nose squeaks sometimes too and he also snorts a lot too. He has a bad respiratory infection though, so maybe just a check up would be a good idea? The vet can have a listen to his chest and make sure everything sounds fine.

I think a check up would be a good idea. Good Luck!
