My Dutch rabbit, Jewel, has recently been moved to a larger play pen. (She loves it) Her original setup was a large cage and a small excercise pen. She is very good about using her litter box in her old cage, but ever since I moved her shes been leaving lots of “messes” . I know that she is just marking her territory, but it’s been going on for two days. I’ll clean it up every night when I come home from school. Is it normal for her to do this for two days? And if not what should I do? And if it is normal how much longer am I going to be cleaning up after her?

        Help will be greatly appreciated!

Yes this is very normal – when a bunny is given more freedom sometimes they forget their litter box habits. Could you gradually increase the amount of space she has? That might make the transition without losing her litter box habits. Otherwise it might take a couple days or so for her to get the hang of it again. How big is the pen?

It is 10 panels and each panel is about 1.5 ft. I have also noticed each day the amount of “suprises” is decreasing, and more is in the litter box. So I guess thats a sign that she’s starting to go back to it. Let’s see what happens!
