Now that Totoro is mostly litter trained (Wilbur is fully trained) I am going through almost 3 bags of Yesterday’s News a week. I love Yesterday’s News and think it works great but I need something I can buy more in bulk. The grocery store closest to me only carries a couple bags at a time and at $7 a bag it’s costing me around $21 a week. Does anyone know of a specific litter I can buy in bulk at a cheap price that also works well?

          Wood stove pellets .

edit: they’re also sold as horse stall bedding, I imagine it should be pretty easy for you to get ahold of either one where you are.

The wood stove pellets/horse stall bedding, is usually between $4-6/40-50lb bag. I have two buns and one bag lasts about a month. By far my favorite litter.

Which is ok, I like them too

I like Yesterday’s News. Wow, 3 bags a week? What size bags are you buying?

I buy YN too but to cut down on costs, I put just enough YN to line the bottom of the litter tray and fill the rest with hay. It’s a great use for those hay crumbs at the bottom of the bag. There’s no need to fill the whole tray with litter since just a small amount of YN will absorb pee.

I buy a 15lb bag of YN and with three bunny potties which I change at least every second day it lasts me 2-3 weeks.

                        Malp, all set!

And I agree with WSP – they’re awesome. I probably go through one bag every couple of months and I can buy them for $6.

Thanks everyone!! I’ll give horse stall pellets a try.

LBJ10 the only size I’ve seen of YN is 8 pounds, I wish they sold the bigger ones where I live!!
