I’ve had missy less than a week, but she poops enough for 5 rabbits it seems like, so we go through a lot of litter, lol. Right now I am using carefresh colored because it was the first thing I bought for her. I got the smaller bag and it is pretty much gone now. I got a bag of carefresh naturals today but I would really like to switch to something like yesterdays news because carefresh is so expensive. My question is if I switch from the carefresh bedding to the paper pellets will she quit using her litterbox? Right now she is doing so well with not peeing outside of her litterbox and the majority of her poops are in the box. I don’t want her to be confused or rebel or anything and lose the progress shes made with her litterbox. Should I mix them together for a few days and just slowly add more yn to the carefresh or should she be ok just switching over? Another question that might seem silly, if she eats the pellets in her box, will they hurt her tummy? She doesnt really eat much of the carefresh now but she does nibble on it. I’m probably not giving her enough credit but I dont want her to think it’s pellet food or anything, lol. I’m sure once she nibbles it she could tell the difference, I’m just a little overprotective.

I used to use Carefresh.. I made the switch to wood stove pellets without mixing in the new stuff and my bunny took to it quite fine. You get 40lbs for $5. I have one rabbit, and it takes me literally months to go through one bag (just a thin layer of pellets is what you just need).

My bunny poops a lot .. but what rabbit doesn’t?

If you think she is going to eat it, I would try getting a litter screen from the BB store.

I think Yesterday’s News is a great litter choice; I personally love it. You could try mixing it for a few days, or just go straight to it. Either way should be ok, and it shouldn’t make too big of a difference. I doubt she’ll eat the pelleted litter, but even if she chews a little it won’t be a big deal, since it’s just compressed paper. She’ll realize it isn’t food quickly, so I don’t think there’s anything to worry about there. Good luck!

I really like Yesterday’s News, it works pretty well at keeping odors at bay. Yesterday’s News is also non-toxic.

Thank you guys! I’ll look into getting the wood pellets and pick up a bag of yesterdays news and see how she does with it.

I wouldn’t worry-they ‘go’ more so in the place then in the ‘thing’ if that makes sense. Like if you pick up the litter box to clean, they’ll often go where it was…had that happen a few times It’s like ‘hmmm this used to be different, but I’m in the right place so here goes’ So you should have no trouble switching. I ditto the others-wood stove pellets are great and very cheap if you can get them
