I have a question about litter training.  My french lop uses her liter box pretty good.  All poops usually go in the litter except for the random flinging of poo while she jumps in and out of the box, but randomly I'll wake up to find that she's urinated on the opposite corner of where her litter box is in her cage.  Is this normal?  She's just been spayed last week but she's doing great.  I put a rug at that corner for her to lie down on but i think she rather lie down on the cold plastic of the cage bottom.  If I remove the rug will she stop doing this?  Or is this just normal?  Like are rabbits just not ever gonna be 100% good with using the litter box?  She only does this at night i think cause I'll always wash it in the morning and see it the next day but not all the time.  can I get her to stop doing this?

If she's peeing on the rug, then yes, removing it will probably help.

What is your hay situation? Does it stay in a hay rack? In the litter boxes? My girl thinks it's ok to pee anywhere there is hay so if I don't clean up the hay they throw around she will eventually pee in the corner of the cage.

Yeah I think tonight i'm gonna remove the rug completely and see how she does with that. Her hay is in a rack above her litter box where if it does fall it'll fall in the box. But there are some random straws that get flung out here and there, like countable on my hand maybe 5 hay straws.

It could be that the rug is new, and she wants to mark it with her scent. Try taking out the rug if she isn't using it to lay on anyway. If you find that she is still urinating there, maybe move her litterbox there. It's easier to accomodate a bunny then it is to make them change. Rabbits will almost always use the litterbox because as a prey animal, they like to be very clean. Even in the wild bunnies use the bathroom in the same spot pretty much so no predators can follow them home. She will be fine just experiment to see what works

I have a French lop as well.

When we first got Midnight we had the same problem.

But ours was actully the opposite of what you have.

He would pee in his litterbox and poop in the corner of his cage.

So we moved it to that corner, and it didn't really help much.

So then we tried a different litter, I recomend the "Yesterdays News" brand.

Because we thought that maybe the brand that we were using wasn't obsorbing well enough, and he did not want to go on it because it was very

wet.

It's just an idea that worked for us. Of couse all bunnies are different so there's no garuntee on anything.

Good Luck!

It's so strange because different bunnies react in different ways. Vivian rarely pees on her beds and blankets, but my previous bunny Bailey peed on soft bedding every time, and sometimes Rucy would too. Jack wouldn't pee so much on his bedding but if he found something new and soft that had another scent on it, he'd be sure to pee on it.
