Can't even believe i'm writing this. Biscuit got ill over the weekend, completely stopped eating and drinking so i took the day off college today to take him to the vets. Even though he only had a dental a few months ago, his teeth had grown back particularly badly and he was so ill they said he probably wouldnt survive the anaesthetic. He was in so much pain, hunched over and grinding his teeth, i couldnt bear to see him hurting like that.
So i had to make the hardest decision i have ever made, and get him put to sleep. My beautiful boy, 8 years old. I got him on my10th birthday and he's been my best friend ever since, i dont know what i'm going to do without him.
Rest in Peace by beautiful brave boy, mamma loves you forever. Thankyou for the 8 years of happiness you gave me, i will never ever forget you. I love you so much, binky free. I love you, heart broken doesnt even cover it.

Hugs Anna - you made a very selfless decision doing this. I think it's hardest losing our senior rabbits because of all the time we've spent with them.

I am so sorry You really did make the best decision for him which I know was so difficult. It sounds like a he had a nice long life with you and was very loved. Binky free Biscuit! It's going to be hard for a while but eventually it will be okay. |

Thanks, that means a lot. He was so loved, i made sure he always had everything any rabbit could ever want - i'm dreading clearing out all of his toys! I hope it'll be okay, i feel like it's the end of the world at the minute |

When my bunny passed away cleaning up all his stuff was really sad but I think it made it easier so I wasn't constantly reminded by running into his things all the time. |

I'm so sorry for your loss, just try to remember you did the best thing for him and he had a wonderful life with you. I lost my 8 year old girl about 6 months ago. The hardest part was cleaning her pen and packing everything away, I left everything for about 2 weeks before I could make myself start. The best advice I have is to take your time, let yourself remember the good times you had with him. There are a ton of fellow bunny lovers here who are always willing to lend an ear or support. *Binky Free Biscuit* |

Anna, I'm so sorry to hear about Biscuit. You loved him for 8 years and you did what you could to free him from pain. He still loves you from over the Rainbow Bridge. I had Spockie for 8 years, and it was very hard to lose him. It means though, that Biscuit had a long and healthy life with you up until the end when it was his time. {{{{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}} |

Thanks guys, all your comments mean so much. I'm going to donate anything i can (like 3 bags of hay i tried him with) to our nearest local shelter ... there is a lot of stuff i cant bring myself to throw away though. I'm keeping his little snowman toy, his collar and a few other little bits from when he was a baby that just mean too much. Thankyou all for your kind words, i hope this'll feel better in time, and maybe in a few years i'll be back on here with another bunny. Thanks. xxx |

I had to dismantle Spockie's things gradually. There's no law that says you need to do it in a particular time or way. I threw out anything that may have had germs or residue from his final illness, but otherwise, I washed things and eventually packed them up or donated them. Shelters are very grateful for fresh food and supplies. I ended up giving my own vet his big cage when I stopped using it for Sammy, and she boards visiting pets in it there now. |

Yeah, thanks RabbitPam. I gave all of his hay and bedding to a rabbit rescue, and have kept some things that are of sentimental value to me - i'm not ready to let go yet! Hope my lovely little boy is binkying all over the place! |

And AnnaW, please stick around the BB site still, especially if it makes you feel better. I found it after Spockie died, and I was very welcomed, especially with all the stories I had after 8 years. I actually didn't get another bunny for about 9 months, and by then I was a regular. It's for bunny lovers, not just owners. |
