Well i kinda knew it was a matter of time before Blossom bit me becasue she is a very timid bunny.  She started out just with the grunting and I was told that usually leads to biting.  I was so mad.  I was trying to brush her but and she grunted and turned around and bit.  Didnt draw blood but close enough!!  This stinks!!  I have to brush her everyday and I have been for 3 months now but if she starts biting everytime I don’t know what I will do.  I refused to get bit everyday!!  Im hoping it was just because she was startled because I was brushing her from behind.

Did you yelp or squeal when she did it? You need to let her know she hurt you. I do this with Wooly if he gets a little rough while grooming me. Whatever you do, don’t let her have her way. If she bites you and you stop grooming her/put her down, she will think biting gets her what she wants.

You can’t blame her for trying to communicate with you. Rabbits talk with their teeth and paws, a nip that didn’t break the skin is just her way of telling you to cut it our or that you startled her.

Try to make grooming a positive experience, and maybe invest in a better brush or a professional blower since you’ll have to do this often for the next several years.

When I groom Remmy, he will nip at my legs, too. What I do is tell him NO and put a phonebook or woodblock in the place where he was biting. He will then focus on the phonebook instead. When he is good and does not bite me, I give him a treat. Now I tend to start out with a phonebook already out and he will tear it up instead of going for me.

Maybe your brush was hurting her and she didn’t like it or was annoyed that you intterupted her or something. When Molly has had enough of me brushing her she leaves, and I let her go, and if I wasn’t finished, I come back a little later. If you snuck up on her and just started brushing her that could be a reason. When you start to groom her, give her a little treat. That way she is more focused on eating her treat, and starts to associate getting groomed with getting a treat. Eventually you will turn this into a positive experience and you won’t always have to resort to using treats. Try talking to her while doing it and petting her. Molly LOVES being stroked very softly from her nose to the top of her head and I can put her to sleep doing that lol Combing this with brushing her she is like putty in my hand haha
