We’ve had our bunny for about 2 years now….in the past few weeks I’ve seen her laying on the floor with her head flat to the ground.  The first time I saw her doing this, I was worried she was depressed but she did a binky a few hours later and decided to myself that it must be that she is just very relaxed now.  She’s more palyful and affectionate lately and thinking she may just be confortable, content and more relaxed.

Does your bunny do this? and do you think this means she is just relaxed?

Only one of my two ever does this – I think it makes him look like a little puppy 🙂

It doesn’t mean anything. It’s comfortable for some bunnies and not comfortable for others so it just depends on how they feel like sleeping.

It makes them look sad, just when a preson rests their head on their hands or arm…..thanks for your reply.

Powder does that, when he’s really tired out, I think it looks adorable.

Mine does it a lot, ever since I got him at a few months old. I don’t think it is because he is depressed, its cute watching him stretch out and lay his head down, he usually does it most often if I am sitting on the floor with him, he will bump my hand and lay down because he wants me to massage his ears and head, lol.

Chubs does this all the time, especially when he is sleepy and wants love from me. I call it his smooshing face

It’s just another comfortable position, although I think I agree with the others that it may also be a request for you to come and give her head and ears some pets.

What I love about bunnies is that you can have them for years and they’ll still do something unexpected that you’ve never seen before out of the blue.

My rabbit does that. She lies in the most depressing positions, but it means that they’re happy so its a good thing. The longer it takes your rabbit to get up and run from the position it is lying in, the more comfortable it is. A tense rabbit will sit in a position that lets it run easily (so with all feet on the ground and head up). A relaxed rabbit will stretch out and put its head on the floor. They will also do this when you pet them or when they want you to pet them.

It does look like they’re sad though, so I can understand your concern.
