my parents think i am giving my rabbit too many veggies (but they dont stop me or anything, they joked about how a human could surivive off of that for a few days lol. exagerrating of course!)

i usually give him 1 – 2 inches in DIAMETER of parsley andd cilantro. i also give him 3-4 leaves of romaine lettuce (but they were small since half of the leaves were gone). oh and 2-3 leaves of baby bok choy (but i found aphids in them EW, so yeah… i’ll buy some more this weekend, but are aphids harmful? i ALWAYS wash the veggies before i give them to my rabbit.) i feed that 2x a day. he loves his veggies, but do you think im feeding him too much? i just got him 2 days ago and this was what he has been eating before so yeah.

i plan on adding celery and collard greens. this upcoming weekend. i dont want him to get diarrehia or anything

Thats a good amount of veggies, probably a bit more than he needs. You want to make sure he eats a lot of hay too, and too many veggies could make him not nibble on his hay enough.

Since you have had him such a short tiem though, make sure to only feed him 1 new thing a WEEK. If he hasn’t had any of those veggies before, please cut back until his little tummy can get used to them. Otherwise you could end up with a sick little man

I think so, because they will favour veggies over hay, and hay is a must I’d maybe 1/2 that in terms of what you are giving or even give 1/3 and 1/3 later and reduce by a third.

Mine gets a lot of veggies once a day around dinner time (usually a small handful of each watercress, dandelion, arugala, carrot tops & a few brussels or slices of green pepper, etc), he only gets maybe a tablespoon of pellets in the morning now though and he still eats the heaping pile of hay I put in his litter box + snacking on the hay in his hay box.

As long as he eats plenty of hay and doesn’t get the poops he should be okay.

I usually give my bunny a small bulb of lettuce, ferns, spinach, carrots etc I also read somewhere that you shouldn’t be giving them potatoes but my bunny got into the potato bag and ate 1 should I be worried? And will anything happen to her? Also she does a lot of diarrhea when I give her too many greens what should I do? And is it dangerous?

This is a very old thread which we ask that users don’t respond to to avoid confusion. It would be wise to start a new topic on the issue since true watery diarrhoea is very dangerous in rabbits. If that’s happening, feed less greens.
