Our poor NZ white rabbit George isn’t eating this morning (he’s normally very enthusiastic about breakfast) and he’s avoiding me and hiding a lot. So, after doing some web surfing, I decided it was a good idea to take him to the vet this morning. We just bonded him with Tula, and were wondering if we should take Tula with him to the vet. They’ve been living together full-time for about 2 weeks. Tula gets a little freaked out about the car, though.

Anyway, if you’re awake and can send a quick response, we would be very grateful. Thanks!

I think it would be a good idea.

Yep, definitely take both! Good luck at the vet.

Thanks for the responses! Good news – while I was waiting for my vet to open, George started feeling better. He started munching on some veggies and hay and is now much more like his normal self (active, curious, etc). So I decided not to take him in, although I’m working from home and keeping an eye on him today. Nonetheless, for future vet visits, we will take both Tula and George together.

Incidentally, I was gently squeezing George’s tummy right before he started feeling better (trying to figure out if his stomach was upset). Maybe I helped him pass whatever was upsetting him? Or maybe it was just a coincidence? Does anyone know?

              Thanks again!

Tummy massages can definitely help a gassy rabbit, so it’s possible that you helped break up some of the gas bubbles and made him feel more comfortable.

massaging the belly can help relieve gas which sounds like what you did accidently….you could also give baby gas meds although im not sure about dosages
