        Max has had a long list of issues the past year. Well, he has been doing great. Between the surgery, the daily penicillin injections and baytril, his abscess in his leg is gone. If you recall, he has a lot of abscesses in his jaw, but we feel another surgery for him would be more risky, so we are treating with antibiotics and hoping to keep things at bay. It wasn’t affecting his eating or behavior. His chin issue was doing great.  The pus cleared up, no more scabs, and the fur was growing back on his chin. Haven’t seen fur there in about a year!  Well, I noticed last night that the puss and scabs are coming back.

        I have been doing some research on antibiotics for rabbits and came across azithromycin. Have any of you used that on your buns? Do you know anything about it for rabbits? Should I ask my vet about trying that?  Thanks everyone!

          I’m sorry to hear that Max’s abscess is back. I don’t have any experience with abscesses but I just wanted to offer some (((Healing Vibes)))). I just adore your little Max.

            I have heard many rabbit people who have used this. Definitely ask your vet about it.

            Vibes for Max.

              Just wanted to say that I love white lops. He’s very pretty. And please keep us posted on what the vet says.

                I’m certain I’ve heard of that for use-and anything has got to be better than baytril which usually has a bad flavour. But i don’t have any personal experience with abscesses so just sending some {{Healing vibes}}

                  Mimzy was scripted azithromycin (also known as zithromax for people) for recurrent nasal infections. It does work really well but because it’s so strong my vet doesn’t recommend repeat dosing like one might do with baytril. You run the 7-10 day course and that’s supposed to be all they can tolerate of it. But definitely bring it up with your vet, they may have different experiences.
                  Has he ever tried chloramphenicol? It’s one that is very penetrating and is often used for stubborn infections and abscesses, but we have to wear gloves to dose it as it can cause a fatal anemia if humans absorb it. I had to use that on Mimzy too and it was a little nerve wracking but I believe it worked well.
                  Major healing vibes for dear Max. He is adorable! ((((((((Vibes)))))))))
