My rabbit is fine with me grooming her top side but she will not let me groom her bottom side.  What should I do? She has long hair so I don’t want it to get matted.

Do you mean her stomach or her hind-quarters? I usually distract Remmy with a treat or a phonebook while I brush his bottom.

The underside of her neck and her stomach.

I don’t groom my rabbits under sides – they really don’t like it and they’re able to reach that area on their own.

If you have an angora or another wooly breed then you may need to brush this area. Are you able to flip her over and trance her? This would probably be your best bet. Another idea would be to put the rabbit on a counter and lift up the front end (I’d stand so the back of the rabbit can be held into your stomach for stability with one hand on the chest). You could probably get the stomach this way and you’d have a decent amount of control.

I trance Kahlua to do her chin and tummy. It’s a must because she will matt down there, but try to brush under her chin and she’ll darn near take your fingers off! Trancing works very well for her-if you can’t trance, work slowly up to it, by extending the lenght of time you hold your bunny until you are both very comfortable-then you can try putting her on her back and trancing.
