My male bunny (neutered) always seems to grunt when we play with him.. although every website says that grunts and growls means rabbits are annoyed or angry so I’m a little confused.

For example if get in his playpen and tckle his back, run my hands across the carpet or try to tempt him with toys, he seems to run about as though to play back but he always grunts without fail. Does this mean he’s annoyed? Or could he just be a very vocal bunny?

It could mean that he’s annoyed – I’ve seen videos of bunnies grunting in annoyance while people ran their hands around in front of them.

It could also just be because he’s vocal. My girl grunts at dinner time and will run up to me grunting like a pig if she’s just found out I have food – she’s just really excited and shows it vocally.

He could just be vocal, Samson plays with my husband much more like a dog than a bunny, she runs at him and binkies then runs away and binkies, all the while grunting and growling.

This website-http://language.rabbitspeak.com/ is actually really helpful in learning to read the body language of bunnies, I wish they had more pics though!
