I left my bun at a pet boarder for 3 weeks because my whole family went on vacation abroad and I had no choice. I asked how he liked being with other bunnies and I was told he was aggressive towards them. I’m not so surprised…. Brody has attitude problems, is it because of his breed? I hear this alot about hotots. I actually let him out for hours, play with him, give him chew toys and his pen is good sized. Any tips? What am I doing wrong?

When you mean with other rabbits, playing with them? Most rabbits aren’t just going to play with other rabbits. I would not go to a boarder who let my rabbits “mingle” with rabbits they don’t know and I don’t know. Rabbits who are bonded are introduced and it can be a long process.

Brody does not have an attitude problem, his reaction is that of a normal rabbit.

i agree with Sarita. Bunnies don’t do well with “Play dates” like dogs do. They are much mroe territorial and need to have carefully monitored bonding sessions in order to play nice with others.

Yep, I agree with the others. Rabbits are territorial and it takes them a while to get to know and accept a new rabbit into their area (sometimes not so long, but sometimes months). Introducing one rabbit to another just for “playtime” is a bad idea and more likely to result in a fight than anything else.

Aw he’s not mean! Rabbits aren’t meant to be social that way, there are always exceptions but for the most part if you want rabbits to get along, you have to bond and properly introduce them.

Agree with all above – no boarder should let bunnies mingle. Bonding to rabbits is LIFE LONG… even if they do well with a bun they are introduced to, it would depress a bun to be taken away from their bond mate after 3 weeks. Bonding usually takes a while though and aggression to a stranger rabbit is normal. There is nothing wrong with your bun.

My bunny is the sweetest, cutest bun on earth…until he meets a strange rabbit…when he turns into a homicidal manic 🙂 Perfectly normal behaviour…even through cage bars.
