Anyone doing anything fun for NY Eve or NY Day?
Does anyone have any 2012 Resolutions (yet?) or plan to have some? |

I've had a crazy extended Christmas (Friday through today) with family visiting from out of town, and I work Thursday and Friday, so I honestly don't want to do anything for NYEve. My best friend is moving on the first, so I might lend a hand with that... But I'm hoping Saturday night is nice and quiet. |

My resolution will come true: Get back into school, finish it, get a career in a hospital. Oh, and to never work retail again after that. |

Good resolutions ChaCha! Beka, I imagine having Christmas with a child is a mcuh more stressful event than without a child, and definately no sleep in with santa's presents under the tree! My news years resolution is to finish college finally. |

Retail is disgusting I can't stand it, but I'm there until mid 2013. That is when I'll be done with school. |

ChaCha - I've learnt to not have fitness goals as NY resolutions. I don't work that way, I do better if I just do it and don't think about it. It's good revenue for the gm though :-) and yes, retail does stink so much! |

Hehe Chacha, I don't get fitness resolutions... if you want to be fit/healthy you need to make it a lifestyle not a temporary thing! *shrug* Good money for your gym. I used to work retail and yes it is terrible, customers are (mostly) awful, hours stink and bosses are generally no fun. At least there is only one more year for you! |

NY Eve, I stay home and I think I'll just drink some nice sparkling wine to celebrate. NY Day, my mom is having a little get together, so I'll spend it with her and her friends. Resolutions, well, I'm just darn terrible at keeping them, but I think it's always good to have some kind of goal. I think what my resolution will be is to read more books and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer (at home). I have TONS of books I do want to read and I do enjoy reading. I think if I just spent a few hours each weekend reading and each evening, it would be a good thing. |

On NY eve my parents usually throw a party with all the in-laws and soon-to-be in-laws and we play games and people old enough drink maybe. No huge partiers in my family really. As for resolution, I think I'll make it to be less lazy in general. Not so much of like hardcore workout but maybe not be too lazy to pick up something I dropped, etc. Although I really do want to join a gym to use a bike and weight machines for my knee. I gotta get it back to at least 80% of it's previous function to be truly happy. I can't wait for a pain-free life |

I don't really have any plans. It is supposed to be really nice out, so I wanted to at least go out somewhere. There are a lot of "parties" going on around town, but they cost so much $$$ to get in. I don't know anyone that's having a party. So yeah, not sure what we will do. New years day, I will be working. Resolutions.. resolutions.. hmm I haven't thought about it too much. I was wanting to cut back on the soda though. I drink way too much. Mostly because I am craving caffeine, but I absolutely detest coffee and tea. Plus artificial sweeteners are awful, so I go for the real stuff. o_O I would also like to make it through this next semester without procrastinating. I need to keep up with my classes and have time to make progress on my thesis. I'm thinking a lot of the problem is my weekend job though. *sigh* I'm just burned out. |

This new years eve, my friend is DJ-ing at a lounge near my house. No cover, free food, and reasonably priced drinks! Plus I know his taste in music and it's right up my alley =D As for resolutions, I want to really kick start the volunteer program at the non profit I work at. I've started to, but I really want to get the ball rolling this year. Also, I need to get back on my fitness.. I've been lagging lately =X I want to be able to hike this trail called Mission Peak; it's a 5 hour trek! |

You're complaining about 60 degrees? G, wish I was you. We're actually having unseasonable warm temperatures right now. It's supposed to be in the 50s for new years eve, so that's why I thought it would be nice to go somewhere. Nothing is worse than snow and ice on the ground and you're freezing your butt off. |

I've got blackeyed peas with the Christmas hambone simmering on the stove (I like to cook them the day before 'cause that second day flavor is hard to beat) Resolutions: Redo the bunny room so it's easier to keep clean. Finish making it Bunny ADA compliant by building ramps to the upper levels for Toby. Figure out SOMETHING to do with the floor since I see no end of the Charlie/Daisy PP wars. Order the clicker book and work with Charlie. If he's smart enough to not only figure out every way that I secure his door but try to hide the ties, cords, etc from me, he can dang well learn some tricks. Enter the Geocache challenge of recording a find for each day of the year. Send out some more bunny related Travelers for others to find and move along. oh yeah, I guess I should finish my kitchen. I ripped everything out and built a temporary cabinet for my sink, then got sidetracked by working on the ramps for Toby...lol (keep walking and lose some weight) Happy Hoppy New Years!!! |

My Bunny Burrow is full! Pringles & Toby, Daisy & Lola, and my senior citizens Hershey & Simba. The piggies are back, add Brownie and Sweetpea to the mix. |

Tonight our friends are having their usual NYE party. Yay! Usually there's no theme, but in honor of the world (supposedly) ending on Dec 21, 2012 they're making it an "End of the World Party". Mostly this involves a playlist with end of the world songs (who knew there were any other than that REM song?) and making food with "fire", "devil", etc in the name. I was asked to make Devil Dogs - they're a Drakes cake product thingy with icing sandwiched between chocolate cakes (like a whoopie pie I guess). I've never had them, but it was easy enough to find a recipe online.
I was stupid though and doubled the recipe (as the author recommended) even though the recipe didn't say how many it made. I have well over 100 cookies now (though they'll be sandwiched) and I even threw some of the batter away because I was sick of making them. lol I still have to make the icing and put them all together.
I'm also making Monkey Bread (that was my original plan before they asked me to make Devil Dogs). I got a stand mixer for Christmas and I don't often bake anything other than bread, so I'm happy to get a chance to use it.
As for resolutions, I think one is to make my own sandwich bread every week or two. Earlier this year I almost completely gave up eating store bought sandwich bread, but I only made my own a couple times (I just kind of stopped eating sandwiches for lunch). The stand mixer will make it easier and so will my new bread pan (a large one designed to make square loaves, perfect for sandwiches, instead of the standard type loaf pans). So that's my resolution! |

For New Years Eve tonight we are will be at a comedy show-- going to a see Paul Mooney in Berkeley.
We need some serious laughs as this has been one of the hardest years of my life and I am glad to send it off with some smiles.
New Years Resolution: Now that things are settling down a bit in my personal life finally, I need to relearn how to relax. I think sticking to a schedule that allows at least a little bit of "me" time a day, will help on many levels -- from fitness, creative projects etc. When you feel burnt out, there's little energy to do or start anything. So my goal is celebrate and take advantage of more quiet, peaceful and/or fun and playfful time. I am hoping that will rejuvinate me enough so that other things will also just naturally fall in line.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
