I am somewhat baffled. My rabbit seems to have something going on in his system, but I can’t tell what…He is around 4-5 years and neutered.

        Here are his symptoms:

        • Diaherra on and off…it seems to have gone away now, and there is a possibility it is veggie related, but I’m not sure….
        • Left eye (if you’re the bunny), is sticky, but not wet. It looks wet.
        • Recently noticed a balding spat in the corner of his eye (nearest his mouth). Haven’t seen him scratching a lot.
        • He may be a little bloated? Not sure.

        On the healthy side:

        • He seems to be eating normally
        • He is alert and active
        • He seems to be pooping normally right now…

        Peculiarities:

        • He doesn’t like water too much…
        • He doesn’t always eat his hay.

He is a bit on the confusing side, and I’m not sure whether or not I should be concerned…Any input?

        Thanks!

Definitely need to take him to the vet. That’s too many things wrong at once, he needs to be looked at.

          Vibes for your bunny!

I would take him to the vet as well. I think if you are baffled and concerned that is reason to see a vet….at least that’s what I do.

I think you need to take him to the vet as soon as possible. The syptoms sound like what my bunny, Benny had…and he had some serious teeth problems.

Teeth problems can cause weepy eyes, which would explain the bald patch next to the bunny’s eye and the damp eye.

Keep us updated on what the vet says 🙂

Hope you were able to get to the vet today, or at least grab an appointment for Monday.
There’s enough wrong that it might get worse before it gets better and probably won’t on its own. A vet visit will offset any decline and probably get a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Bunnies rarely exhibit symptoms, so when they become serious, it’s usually an advanced stage of the problem.
Good luck. Let us know please.

I know it may seem irresponsible, but cost is a big issue for us. Does anyone have any estimates of a vet visit from experience? I know it varies per vet, but any ideas?

                    Thanks!

It really varies, both on your region and what services/meds are needed. Can you call your vet and explain what is going on and what they recommend?

This is my recommendation. First call and find out how much the vet exam is. Whatever the situation with your rabbit is, the vet is not going to be able to give a diagnosis over the phone but hopefully they can tell something based upon the physical exam. If they cannot and they suggest further diagnostics or even treatments then at that time you can explain your financial situation so the vet can give you options for treatments or further testing.

I can tell you that my vet charges $56 for an exam and that’s mighty high in my opinion but I trust my vet and know she and her staff take good care of my rabbits.

You might also ask your vet if they accept care credit and see if that can be an option for you.

My vet charges $30 for a checkup, but it varies by vet and area. Call your vet up and they will tell you how much it costs, plus they can give you an idea of further treatments they might need to do and the cost of those. Some vets will allow a payment arrangement if the pet is sick and needs treatment but you don’t have enough money.

This is care credit that Sarita referred to: http://www.carecredit.com/vetmed/

Goodluck! I hope you can work something out.
