Is it chicory or curly endive? I’m familiar w/curly endive and according to wikipedia those two can be confused but I think either would be fine actually.

It says Chicory can be fed to horses, and given their similar systems I would think it’s fine. It’s grown for salads and safe for other animals and humans to consume. I don’t see it on either safe or harmful lists, but I think that it looks safe.

At my grocery store the curly endive is sold under the label “Endive/Chicory”. My buns love it.

Ditto, chicory can be confusing! Lots of things can also be named chicory.  See pics below   Good news is that all of these are ok for rabbits.

                 Curly endive / aka chicory

                Belgian endive

                Red chicory or endive

                 Radicchio also Red Chicory

This is what I know as chicory.  I *think* in the US it’s known as dandelion greens.

There is probably a ton more but basically, chicory is all good. Take your pick!

Glad you asked because I went to get some greens today and grabbed what turned out to be chicory not labeled. It looked like the picture.

So I checked my trusty rabbit food list that I printed out a couple of years ago off the HRS site, and yep, chicory is just fine. It’s even listed as one of the regular OK foods, without a highlight that has a caution about it. So both our buns, bon appetite!

(And Sammy tasted it today and gobbled it up, so it’s a winner.)

Here’s the list – it’s from THIS site.
