I'm so sad that Peaches is gone.  It was totally unexpected.  I knew though that this morning when she had distressed breathing, I was going to have to make a decision.

I'm not sure that Peppermint totally understand just yet that she is gone.  The vet said that on Tuesday when they were in they were all snuggly in the cage and laying across each other.  However today, he was keeping his distance - he knew she wasn't well I guess - she could barely breath and the vet put her in the oxygen chamber a few times.

The thing that made me cry so hard was when the vet was putting the gas mask on her to put her under the anesthesia to help her cross over, she got scared and screamed a little and whimpered - the gas smell and the mask frightened her.  My vet is so sweet though and comforted her since I had to hold Peppermint.  He had so many distractions at the vets that I don't think he really understood she was gone.

Please light a candle for my sweet Peaches and send Peppermint comforting vibes.

Thank you everyone. I told my vet yesterday that it seems like these things come in 3's, not that this is what I want, but it just somehow happens that way. She said she didn't hope that would be the case, but with Toffee's unexplained weird eating habits, she could be next and she's up there at 8 or 9 years old as well.

Peppermint seems okay but it's just too soon to tell - I don't think he really realizes that she is gone. That wouldn't be unusual though since it hasn't been a full day. Please keep sending him those comforting thoughts and vibes. He is a bit of a skittish rabbit and seemed to rely on her for comfort.

I'm so sorry, Sarita- it just seems so cruel for you to go through this twice in such a short time. You know you gave them wonderful lives and the very best care possible and had the courage to help them cross the bridge when the time came, but I know nothing eases the heartbreak right now. I pray that you find some peace and comfort in the days to come and that Peppermint stay strong and healthy- and that Toffee gets back to her usual eating habits so you don't need to worry anymore.

OMG Sarita, I never saw this until today. I am so sorry about Peaches. You did your best for her - try to picture her at a happy time with you and Peppermint to let the final images fade.

Sarita-I didn't see this-I'm so so sorry. That's sweet she gave some attitude at the vets. I think that's something you can look back on and smile about some day. Noot didn't seem to realize Chuck was gone when we were at the vet together to help Chuck cross over either. He was so out of his element, he was a great comfort to CHuck but I don't think he realized. That or, the stoic way they deal with loss of a partner is indicative that they know something about death that we don't, understanding that they are off to a better place. *hugs* Vibes to Peppermint.
