Its ok to eat, but they really shouldn’t eat a ton since there is no nutrition in it. Are you using the newspaper as a litter? If your buns are litter trained they shouldn’t need anything on the bottom of the cage

Do you feed them hay?  Sometimes rabbits will eat paper and cardboard when they wanting fibre. And sometimes they just like ripping and eating it for fun!!
Anyway, putting more hay in for them might help distract them from the paper and give them better fibre to eat. You could also work on taking out the paper altogether as Sam and Lady’s Human suggests.

Thank you all for your reply.  Appreciate to share your knowledge about bunnies as we are new parents!

We are using newspaper on the bottom of their cage (not inside of their litter box) as they are still babies (4months) and new to the envitonment. We got them only two weeks ago.  But it seems like they already know where to go and they are doing well.

So you guys think we don’t need to lay papers on the bottom as long as they are littler trained?  And following your advise, we will try to put more hay and wood shaving.

                Thanks again.

Careful with wood shavings. Unless it is aspen, do not use it. Pine and cedar can be harmful for bunnies.

And they need 24/7 access to hay, its the most important part of their diet.

Rabbits usually go to the toilet where the hay is. So if you put it in the litterbox and keep the rest of the cage floor bare you might be surprised on how quickly they litterbox train.

I know it’s easy to think of them as babies still at this age. I know I would. But they can actually start breeding so if you have a male and a female rabbit now is the time to separate them.
