I’ve just finished a bottle of a store bought cage/litter box cleaner. And now I was thinking about making my own to put in a spray bottle.

Does anyone know of a solution that I could use to create my own? I have some baking soda if that’s any help.

I’m pretty sure baking soda is toxic to rabbits. I know you can dillute vinegar to cut the smell of urine and I think someone else mentioned lemon juice but I’m not sure. Sorry that I’m not much helpful but I wanted to throw out there that baking soda is bad for rabbits.

5o/5o water and vinegar. It helps with the smell and such. I usually spray it and let it sit for a bit them wipe it out.

Frankieflash- Baking soda isn’t toxic to them, but it’s not a good idea to let them eat it.

Indeed – 50/50 white vinegar and water. Baking soda isn’t toxic, but it can cause bubbly tummies if enough is ingested, which isn’t good for the sensitive digestive systems.

Thank you everyone. Yeah I wasn’t planning on letting them eat the baking soda.

I’ll will make the 50/50 water and vinegar solution. Doesn’t the vinegar smell get a bit strong though?

The vinegar solutions works really well. The smell does go away.

One thing you CAN do is, with the litter pan, pour in some white vinegar first then sprinkle a little baking soda on that. It makes a cool fizz. Let it soak for a short time and then scrub the stuck on areas. They come clean out of the pan that way. Then do a good water rinse of the whole pan a couple of times. (I dump it out into the toilet after each rinse.) Don’t use baking soda straight on anything in the cage, but it acts as a scrubbing agent when used with the vinegar.

As the others said, use a 50/50 water vinegar solution in a spray bottle to wipe down the cage and areas that can’t be removed to be washed.

I have always used vinegar and water. I get a spray bottle fill half with water and half with vinegar. Spray it in the litterbox and let it sit. Now if the litterbox is really dirty I pour the vinegar and water in it and let that sit for about 20 minutes then rinse with hot water and dry!
