Is she spayed? Pulling fur out is generally sign of a false pregnancy or real pregnancy, since she’s never met a boy, most likely a false pregnancy (when their hormones tell them they are pregnant but they aren’t, fur pulling is the last steps in it). Have you noticed her hoarding / storing hay or anything to make a nest at all?

I have noticed the last few days that she was chewing up her blanket a lot more like deliberately tearing it apart. and we found a tiny bit of hay in her hiding place which has never been there since its on the second floor.

So what does this mean? is it just a phace that will pass in a few days?

Sounds like a false pregnancy. It will run its course and once she realizes she isn’t actually having babies should go back to normal. But if she isn’t spayed, you really should think about it – it helps to prevent these false pregnancies (which are stressful to her), also she has a 80-85% chance of cancer if unspayed. The pulling the fur is the last stage of a false pregnancy, so it should end in a week or so.

It’s been asked in both of your posts if your rabbits are spayed/neutered but you haven’t answered…please let us know so we can help you better.

I agree with Stickerbunny, it sounds like a false pregnancy. It appears she is building a nest.

To have the false pregnancies stopped, spaying will help greatly . it also helps with getting rid of the chance of reproductive cancer occuring.

Are the false pregnancies harmfull to her? How many times a year will she do this? Shes almost 2 and has never done it before

Harmful in and of themselves, not really… though there is a risk of her getting a blockage from ingesting too much fur pulling it and storing it in her mouth to build a nest. You are running a 80-85% risk of her getting cancer leaving her unspayed though, with the false pregnancy adding unneeded stress on her body and any stress can make animals more vulnerable to illnesses. So it would be in her best interest in every way to have her spayed. Especially since 2 is when cancer cells often being developing. How often she’d have them varies by rabbit.

They are stressful on the mind and body; and can cause her to stop eating and get GI Stasis. I really really really would recommend getting her spayed. As Stickerbunny said there is an 85% chance risk of her developing uterine cancer at an early age (as well as ovarian and mammary). Spaying eliminates this risk. Unspayed rabbits (especially females) are often aggressive, have bad litter box habits, and have other bad behaviors. Rabbits who are spayed make the best companions. All in all, spaying will make her happier and healthier, and you happier too.

ok so she has made a nest, when will it be ok to vacuum up all her hair without her remaking it? When will i know that she is done having her false prgnancy? Should i keep her from seeing the other bunny while all this is going on? maybe shes really territorial right now and it could end up bad see anither rabbit…..

How long have you had the other rabbit there? Are you 100% positive on the sex of that rabbit? I ask because it is so common for people to think they have a female bun and it turns out to be a male. And vice versa.  It can result in accidental litters when you already have another rabbit.  So just in case, I’d check the nest for babies when Marley is not there.

Just another rabbit being there might have been a trigger for her nesting behaviour even if they haven’t got together.  When she loses interest in the nest you could clean it up. You might be able to test things out. If she acts put out if you touch anything in her habitat, then perhaps leave things a bit longer. When she’s less fussed you could go ahead and remove it.
